Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project

Right guys I am NOT ITK, I wont get roped into that brick I just thought I would come in with some interesting info that I found out from a mates boyfriend - if its true or not I do not know but it could help to explain the issue with the delays....

(I have not read this thread so if it has been said I am sorry)

Basically he works for a landscaping/ architecture company, he mainly deals with the checking of the ground, foundations and moval of an excess dirt and whatnot... He has told me that the biggest problem at the moment is the amount of asbestos that is in WHL... this has increased initial costs especially the removal of it!

dont shoot the messenger :-"

Can't that be fixed by a couple of people dressed in Arsenal shirts with a few cans of petrol at night?

Re: Northumberland Development Project

What a load of gonads, the building site is nearly clear for the majority of the stadium, what it will delay if anything is the housing project.

Also, the club would have had many building works and surveying done loads of times between when it became dodgy to use it (banned in use 1985), if not for insurance and would have known that the building had asbestos due to works done since 1985. In this day and age if you own a factory or works unit where the general public are using you need to do certain things to make sure the public are safe. No way would they just stumble across it.

When doing the redevelopment of the stadium they wouldn't of papered over the cracks, they would have had to remove it. The West Stand was built in 1982 which means that they would have had to be really stupid because Asbestos was a problem way before its official ban in 1985.

In any case.. I find it hard to believe that

1. They never knew about it.
2. They hadn't already factored in the cost because they must have known.`

Most of the stadium would have been refurbished after 1985. Its just the structures below that haven't been.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

I agree with Superhudd, I worked on a project removing Asbestos from a site much larger than WHL and it is not a major cost.

Yep two guys with a van and white cloaks removed it from a warehouse in chichester in 4 days last year, does not cost a lot obiously if it was in white hart lane and i see no reason why it would be then it would take a few more guys but it would still only take a few weeks at most.

Not sure why people come in with this **** and bull, anyone with any knowledge of the building game knows its flimflam.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

Actually it was 260,000 sq ft office complex in central London and all works were carried out in line with government guidelines with licensed contractors. I not saying it's cheap but it would be small potatoes for such a project as the Stadium. But I suppose you know more than me.

sure but if a small warehouse takes a few days with 2 guys it stands to reason that it would not take much longer for a stadium(why would there be any in the stadium?) they would get a few extra guys in, it would cost more but not so much to put the stadium into problems.

The license is that one of those go on a 2 day course where the bored fat old bloke tells you all the answers as you write out the test then send you home early on the second day because he wants to go play golf? been on a few of those courses in my time.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

I did say don't shoot the messenger guys :D

But your not the messenger at best your a guy who has been fooled by someone into beliving a load of gonads or more likely your one of those people i do not understand who make up stuff on the internet because it makes them feel important.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

The only way it would be a problem IMO is if the soil is contaminated, then they would need to go through a cleaning process. But considering the supermarket going up so quickly the likelyhood is very small

I am not bothered about impressing strangers on the internet....

fooled maybe, but I do not understand anything about construction or asbestos so I thought I'd let you guys rip it apart

Re: Northumberland Development Project

My ITK says that all of the asbestos removed from buildings in central London after 1985 got dumped in an industrial park just north of White Hart Lane.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

My chairman was on site today taking some stuff to our box and had a good chat with Mike Rollo. He asked about the new stadium as we have had ties with Tottenham for years and Mike said that nothing is happening yet due to the funding issues. He believes that the money being spent is to help elevate the profile further so that we can achieve more money in naming rights

Hence the 50m loan possibility

Re: Northumberland Development Project

Speculate to accumulate. Classic business philosophy. Good time for Lewis and Levy to be rolling the bones. The game's afoot.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

From Grey Fox on spurscommunity:

"There are (sic) also a lot of noise about the club re a stadium announcement September/October."

Oh, aye? Wind breaking over the plans to offer sample servings of Sainsbury's new Bettah Brand of spicy sausage rolls and jerk chicken rotis?

On offer in stadium concessions and available in the frozen food section of the neighbouring supermarket.

Re: Northumberland Development Project

If Sainsbury's do it right they could take a lot of match day money from people and away from traders on the high road, especially if they have hot food for sale in a cafe or something...
