Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

If we had the finances and income UTD has I'd bet my house on it they would take 60m out of the club.

ultimately there aims are the same.. Own and build the club using club money, creating themselves huge assets for very little cash input in comparison.

when FFP allows billionaires to input money into infrastructure with a blank cheque I want Joe Lewis to fook off unless he shows other intentions other than selfish thoughts, this will not happen, as it would have been completed by now.. so I'd prefer someone that will.

i wouldn't be surprised if when we sell the bonds to finance its that **** Lewis who buys them and takes the interest for doing so.

By the way, I too would be delighted if we were bought by a fantastically wealthy person or company who wished to lavish their riches on the club. But the chances of that happening, while not out of the question, are nevertheless slim. No such person or company has yet materialised with a serious offer.

Until it does happen, we're in pretty good hands.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Why the flying f@ck should Lewis invest 1.5bn of his own money in to spurs? If I, a spurs fan, was a billionaire I wouldn't, so why should the head of an investment company do that?

I just don't get this thinking that we're somehow entitled to Lewis' own personal fortune just because a few other billionaire's, who entered the football business for very different reasons to Enic and Lewis, have done.

Precisely Gareth.

They say that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all... so I'm trying hard not to respond to SuperHudd and DubaiSpur's silly expectations and rambling rants.

Luckily jimmyb does that job for all of us and saves us the hassle of responding to the daily deluge de merde.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Completely agree bullet, jimmy deserves a medal for his posts in this thread, saves a lot of us the trouble to respond!

This is no place for logic or reason..... Now stop it

True.

I wonder if the attitudes towards Lewis (and Levy) would have been different if Lewis was just rich instead of filthy rich...

Oh, and +1 on great posts by jimmyb.

Agree 100 %. Well said sir. \o/

I don't think Lewis is filthy rich in comparison to the Abu Dhabi family. They are one of the richest in the world.

And BTW, jimmyb, you are a legend. Keep up the good work on behalf of the silent majority, who don't have the info that you have.:eek:k:\o/

Like I said, I don't expect him to invest 1.5 billion dollars into the football club he owns. And you're right, we don't have a right to ask him to spend on us, the football club he owns. We are but an extraordinarily cheaply-acquired asset, one that will spin a massive, massive profit for him sooner or later with little oversight on his part. He has a right to do with his own money as he pleases.

And I have a right to view him as a c*nt when compared to the likes of both Abramovich and Mansour (who, for their faults, and whatever their motivations, were determined to make their clubs compete with the greats, to give the fans of their clubs good memories, trophies, good experiences)... and an equivalent right to view Lewis as one of the worse owners out there for the way he built his profit on the backs of the fans.

I've said this before, and I'll say this again: we are a football club. I choose to believe that means something. Lewis doesn't.

And, as a nitpick, if you were a billionaire in the technical sense (i.e, had a billion dollars), it wouldn't be possible for you to put 1.5 billion into Spurs without also taking out a loan of 500 million dollars to do so. Lewis is a multi-billionaire.

And you bluster, but if you were a billionaire, the first goddamn thing you'd want to do is check if Spurs are available for purchase. That's what I would do, that's what any of us would do. :p

?????. I don't know what you mean.

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

Had a look at the construction site before the game today. There are two places from which to view it at ground level - one on the Paxton Road, close to the junction with Worcester Avenue; the other (the main site entrance), just off the High Road and more or less level with the northern end of the proposed stadium.

Running around pretty much the entire perimeter, you can now see a clear outline of the new stadium - formed by the sheet piling retaining walls. No imagination required any more to determine exactly where the new stadium will be. It's becoming real. At last.

Sorry, no pics!

P.S. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve the kind words (other than being an argumentative *******, perhaps?) but many thanks anyway!

Really??
It'd be one of the last things I'd do.
Putting millions of pounds into playing? Spending so much money on my own enjoyment, recreation and ultimately a trivial pastime?

I'd struggle to live with myself when there are so many more deserving things to put resources towards.

Had a quick peek myself through the hole in the fencing. The club certainly feel confident this is all going to go their way, because it definitely is starting to look like the build is underway. Looking very positive now

Where's that hole in the fence? Drop a pin a Google Maps for the rest of us? We could call it the Glory Glory Hole :)

Re: Northumberland Development Project - Archway On Fire

There is one on the high street, right? Think it's pretty obvious when you are walking past. Come out of WHL (the road), turn right onto the HS and it is on that first stretch
