Toby Alderweireld

Chelsea and Burnley in consecutive matches. It's why it became so important that we got Aurier's transfer over the line.

I think the caveat to those performances is he was carrying an injury. When played high up he is a threat. His confidence will be sky high now. Remember, he was close to an assist before the first goal except Dele didn’t read it; he read it the second time!!!

It is why winning last night was so important. Get him fit for the New Year, don’t rush him back for anything. January gives us a chance to strengthen and let us see what Foyth can bring in a few games between now and then. Very important. We must not rush Toby and frankly, we don’t need to...

Thought he lacked a bit of cynicism when getting injured against Real. Needs to get himself back on the pitch, get "treatment" and then slowly walk off when we have the sub ready.

Took us about two minutes to get Sissoko ready from the time it was obvious Alderweireld was injured. We played that time with 10 men and could have been punished too if not for some excellent defending from Vertonghen.

Cynical football = boring, negative football. We are Tottenham, we don't need to descend to that crap. If you want cynicism go and support a Borinho team.

relatively much less cynicism from our players for sure. even our captain doesn't spend too much time speaking to the ref.
marcelo and casemiro were clear examples of trying to get our players out .

perhapss alder's situation was slightly different, he felt the pull and the momentum carried him forward out of the pitch. if anything one of our players could have just committed a simple foul to stop play.

alder's injury looks silly to me now. he needn't have been there at the time trying to dribble real madrid's defence

There were several stops in play, but we didn't have the substitution ready.

I agree that we're a bit less cynical than Real, particularly a couple of stand out players for them. But there's a good bit of cynicism in our lads too, and I'm glad it's there.

Watch Eriksen. I find he is the player most often in the ref's ear for us.
Nowhere near as much as other teams of course.

Did you see how far up the pitch. I think he committed himself and overstretched half fearing he'd lose the ball and start a counter.

I did, but once again i feel one of the main attacking advantages of a 3 man defense is that one can end up the other end of the pitch, as long as the full backs or the DM are switched on to this than a counter attack is no more likely than if the DM was in that position.

You expect Lloris to come running out of goal to speak to the ref all the time?

Hamstring injury is the likely update from Poch, however I would prefer it if the club was less secretive over certain players diagnosis. The Lamela, Wanyama and Dembele updates have been as clear as mud.

What benefit does it give anybody for the club to be clear on injuries, i think they should tell us nothing.

Disadvantages
Gives other teams longer to prepare gameplans
GIves other teams advantage in transfer market if its a long term injury
Puts pressure on players to return within a certain time period
Puts pressure on manager to substitute or rest players who may be carrying a knock

Advantages
Fans know whats going on

Agree fully.

I also think the advantage of fans knowing more is marginal at best. I think the frustration of set backs and predictions of return that are wrong will perhaps be greater than the frustration of not knowing.
