Toby Alderweireld

Apologies if I misunderstood your point, I thought you were basically saying "why is Son worth an increase and not Toby?" Thus if I have that wrong, the post does (indeed) look shambolic!

No apologies necessary
I was trying to compare two high performing players
Both improved whilst here and never complained publicly and both deserve new contracts

However one would fetch £70m on the open market if he didn’t have national service hanging over him...

And the other £50m due to his age (100m if he was younger and played like he had for us)

But one seems to be happy to just get a new contract and the other due to his age wants a massive deal that’s disproportionate to his current one big again it’s understandable

I believe the club are doing the right thing on both cases for once and we have to do what’s right for the club

We are in total agreement.

If I was a cynic I'd say he and his agent have stepped up the PR game with the fans to elevate it to an almost daily conversation, in the hope that a steady drumbeat will help "push" things further...or at the least preserve his reputation within the support group. Incidentally, I have NO inside info on that specific thought - it is my opinion. Frankly it is a little tacky IMO.

He's moving in the opposite direction from what the corckerel is facing. So, it's fair to assume a negative message is being sent here regarding Alderweireld's situation with the club.

I've enjoyed his play with Spurs. If he goes, he'll surely be missed. But just as surely, he'll be replaced.

Roberto Martinez is obviously trying to do his part to get Toby some playing time, but if I were Spurs, I'd bubble wrap him and maybe even find a nice cool fridge to keep him fresh and crisp and healthy for the transfer market. He'll pull double his release clause at a minimum in a summer sale and, within a few months, he'll join Row Zzzz sniper Kyle Sleep Walker as another classic example of a player whom Spurs found it wiser to move on a year too soon rather than a year too late.

And it's a fine fcukin' margin. One that Daniel Levy has a well practiced eye for.

Something of an over-reaction, surely, given that absolutely anything could be read into that photo.

The twitter version has a caption btw

"Back at Hotspur way after the international break!

Why does it have to be his PR team? Can he not tweet without their assistance? He's been injured, could just well of been bored hence the increased number of posts....

He could!
But we are talking megabucks with these players. Larger monies involved than many listed companies. Thus I would expect he and his management people would be 'careful' and control these public uttering. It's what players get for shelling out their 10% to the big agencies.
