Timo Werner

Some see Werner as a better fit for the system and that is why they want him to play, not that they think he is a better player than Son.
Against Utd Werner stayed wide, it gave space for Madders and Kulu to work in and at times for the fbs to get forward without everyone stepping on each others toes. With Son in the side his natural game is to come inside and this has caused problems in other games causing the centre to get congested.
It’s also not been compensated for by Sonny scoring the goals that he used too

In the last couple of years Sancho and Palmer would have been very good signings for us. A shame we didn't feel they fit or didn't think they were ready.

Edit:

The interesting with Sancho is we reportedly almost had a deal with him agreed when he was leaving City but they wouldn't sell to us nor wanted to allow him to leave on a free so Instead they sold him to Dortmund. I wonder how his career would have panned out of Porch had managed to get hold of him.
I read somewhere that it wasn't Emirates Marketing Project that stopped Sancho joining Spurs it was that Dortmund met the financial demands and we didn't.

Interesting, that could well be the case. We weren't a club to offer very good wages to a purely (at the time) potential player.

Club would have been mental to sign Sancho - people talk about us failing on the due diligence side of things with previous signings, well Sancho has the biggest red flags of any player going currently after his time at United. Chelsea can afford to take that sort of risk, we can't.
We aren't talking about signing Sancho in 2024 but instead in 2019 when we almost had a deal agreed for him.

Sancho for £20m is a good deal for Chelsea, he was talked about as a £100m player a couple of years back and has plenty of time to come good. Probably a season too early for us, I doubt we'll keep Werner after this season.

Sancho doesn't have Werner's pace but has good close control and trickery for when we're up against low defensive blocks.

Personally, i'd have steered clear given the wages and baggage, but i get the thought of it

We won’t keep him imo
His wages are too high for a low ranked squad player
Sancho would have set us up and I assume he has taken a huge pay cut to go to Chelsea now they only pay a pittance

And baggage is a word for it .. zero chance Ange's buys into that brick ..

For a well known forward, he has a serious lack of composure when it comes to finishing. He really messed up that opportunity.

It's probably never been his strength, but right now there also seems to be a real mental block in these situations.

Could really do with one going in somehow.

Well, the "hit it low and hard towards the goal" option failed vs Brentford, so he tried something different this time and messed it up. Next option is to try the "fake and go", to see whether he can get the keeper to commit so he can dink it over him.

Ironically, if these chances had fallen to a slower player and said player had been "Lanksheared" by a recovering defender, we'd probably all forget about the missed opportunities, but as it is, Werner's mishaps are glaring.

He's getting some proper stick this week from the spacegoat hunters in our fan base.

Granted, his end product has always been poor and probably won't improve significantly. I doubt he'll be here for the long term but he does bring some attributes and doesn't deserve abuse. I really can't fathom why a certain section of our fan base (and other fan bases too) have to have a lightning rod for their frustration.

They just have too
It’s a culture thing now
Spoken has to be blamed
Even after a victory

Follow Johnson's example - delete Social media, and the goals will come :D....

Werner’s all round game seems better suited to Ange’s system than Son but his lack of composure when presented with a good opportunity to score reminds me of Reguilon.

I’m sure others will disagree, but for me his lack of end product and inability to convert clear cut chances invalidates him being better for the system than Son. I’d rather play Moore than Werner in the short term whilst Son is out.

Sons end product wide is ok
But this season he has had the goals vs Everton but either side of that he hasn’t “fired”
Add in Brentford where he got the assists but should have had at least one goal and another assist is a worry for me
He didn’t actually shoot either time when through one on one… that was blizzards for son
We will see what evolves now because w have options and that’s the key
