Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I said this as a throw away comment in the Fulham rating thread that Tim team has scored 3 goals more times in his 19 games in charge then AVB did in 18 months, wasn't sure if it is true and said as much.... but just checked now and it actually is.... more interesting than just the AVB comparison is the fact that in his 19 prem games in charge his team has actually scored 3 goals or more in 8 of those games thats almost half..... wait.... what?

is he really as bad as a manger as he is being made out to be?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

arsenal have only done it 10 times all season and one of those was the 6-3 loss to city

Have you seen our defending and our CONSTANTLY underwhelming starts??
Plus do we even punch above our weight tactically at all in the 'big' games?

I get what your saying and I cant argue with that but to score 3 goals or more in 8 of 19 games is impressive, especially when comparing it to Chelsea and arsenal.

could he not just need time to sort those frailties out? like some have argued that AVB should have got sort our attacking game out?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

dont we as spurs fans want attacking football, has that changed and I haven't got the memo

Said before dont like some of the things he has said and done... but credit where credit is due.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Do you SERIOUSLY want TS managing next season DTA??

If so how do you think TS will have us set-up? Who will stay in our current squad?
Who will he buy to make it 'his team'?
Who will sign for him in this and other leagues?
How will he manage/rotate his squad?

To be honest I think you must have missed the memo .... The game has changed ... I don' t think the average spurs fan is happy to have the 'glory' game and finish 6th to 14th anymore. Yes, we want attacking football but we want a team with a style but with steel that can actually play modern football and compete and be significant in the EPL. deadwood has us scoring more goals but we are sooooo shambolic at the back.

glory glory football is an excuse for mediocrity ...... There is no reason nowadays we can't be entertaining and successful, as Redknapp showed and heaven knows I was one of the Redknapp 'haterz', we just need to step it up a level and deadwood is not that solution.

If we can get a LVG a KLOPP or an CA then we would be stupid not to say thanks tim but we are going with this guy.... BUT if we are talking about a Moyes (****ing shuddering at the thought of it... and this is not just a reaction to his job at UTD as i didn't want him Pre AVB either) or other similar, then I would say just looking at results and performances not the weird **** he has said and done (some blown out of proportion, but some really not) and the fact that he is bringing in and intergrating youth player (who are doing well) I would say that he would make an interesting and brave perminant appointment, and certainly no more of a risk than David ****ing Moyes.

But how about if he just needs more time to sort out that side of the game, kind of like a lot of people argue AVB needed more time to sort out the attacking part of his team. By the way I dont want to entertain and finish 6th either.... but I do like being entertained and seeing goals scored (preferably by spurs)

again it would be fascinating...even to those who cant stand the man :) to see what would happen if he got a pre-season and the nod for 2-3 players he wanted!

its not gonna happen but it would be interesting to say the least... neither those who dont appereciate anything timbo has done nor those who do appreciate some of his work have any effin idea!

no idea at all...and dont give me we will sign talentless english battlers!!! Sherwood is still an unknown in some regards...when it comes to the media yes he needs to look at himself post Chelsea.

That's the understatement of the year! I agree to not wanting Moyes (have done for years), but if that's the only challenger to TS for the position outside LVG, Klopp or CA then we are truly in deep doo-doo

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

We want our Spurs teams to battle against those with more financial muscle etc than us don't we?

TS is not that man to do it; Clearly not on results and also not mentally (Exhibit A: "I decoded to sit in the stands because there was no way we had a chance to beat Liverpool, they were always going to be technically superior to us anyway")

I ask anyone to find a club who are trying to challenge and get his team to puch above its weight who has EVER had a manager say and do what TS did at Anfield.

He talks the talk, but is a hypocrite as he is as much mentally weak and a coward as any of our players who we might have accused of such in the PL era.

to be fair those questions are relevant to anyone Levy appoints...

Indeed, do you thing he/the board would like the answers that TS would give??
Have we seen enough from the last 4/5 months to come to a good/bad conclusion (from TS's perspective)??

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I wouldn't be gutted if Sherwood stayed. The back four needs work, but Kaboul will be healthier. Him, Walker and Vertonghen and a proper LB and there's a good start. Plus a chance to get everyone on the same page from the start of a season.

Also, gotta love the fact that every post-match managerial interview or training ground media chat is delivered with a proper ****ney accent. Somehow, that just sounds so right with Spurs.

Maybe his strongest endorsement comes from having introduced two players whom AVB would have totally buried - Bentaleb and Kane. Both are a lock to be in the core group for next season. If Kane keeps this scoring pace up, he's going to have a bearing on how the striker position gets dealt with going forward. At the worst, Bentaleb is on the bench every game. Bottom line is, Sherwood has freed up a swack of dough for Levy to use for other purposes. How Levy can't respect that is beyond me.
