Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Like many have already stated I have no love for Tim, in fact I think that if was a great success here and arsenal came calling he would jump ship.... But I think that some people are completely unreasonable in there criticism of him.... He has done a decent/ good job certainly no worse then mr super tactics DVD man.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

But avb this season with out the world class bale... Actually has had worst results against the top ten....

What can that be down ..... Can't be all down to players settling in unless Tim found some magic switch..... Which if he did he should be given credit for.

That may be so, but AVB had a better second half of the season last season, so who knows what he/the team would have done if he had managed to stay the course for the season? It's quite likely he would have made us more competitive in the games against the top 4/5.
Tim has done some simple things to at least get us scoring more, but we are easier to play against and get picked off like cherries against decent sides now

If his general conduct was much better than it has been (i.e. not too much taking all credit when we win, 'not-me-guv' attitude when we lose, blasting players at first chance of trouble, talking about having "pride/passion/heart" but then sitting in the stands at Anfield saying Liverpool were "too technically superior anyway" showing his cowardice/hypocrisy) then he might have been given more leeway that's for sure..

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Just proof that Levy's transfer policy works. Who the manager is is almost inconsequential. As long as we don't win the league cup we will be up there.

We just got to keep looking for the one that can keep us in the title fight until the very end.

nice stats but should we have all cup games in them as we claim to take everything seriously?

I think that's a fair point... Although not with GB and Scara. They would vilify him anyway.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

It was tongue in cheek mate.

In all honesty, it seems that a lot of people on here seem to know TS fairly well and know his motives etc - judging by their posts of course.

Ah, I get ya now!! All this sun is affecting my brain!!

It wasn't just the top 4 or 5 though, was it? We couldn't beat anyone in the top half. Seriously, 7 of his 8 wins are against the teams currently 13th-20th. Highest place team we beat is Palace in 11th on the opening day and they've only turned it around of late. AVB results against the top half was played 7, won 0, draw 3, lost 4. Sherwood is played 10, won 6, draw 0, lost 4. Also AVB's better 2nd half last year is about as good as Sherwood's half season this year, 39 points versus 36 points. With the usual caveats, AVB had the benefit of Bale, a pre-season and starting on an even keel... not a team that was in 7th, in terrible form and sinking down the table.

With no Adebayor, 4-5-1 with Soldado up front on his own, the man management issues etc etc... I honestly think we could have been dragged into the midtable much of a muchness by now under AVB, nevermind be more competitive against even Southampton, Everton or Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Actually, Ade did something very similar. Someone asked why he's not playing and he responded with something like "it's not my decision" and left it up. I don't see the point in him withdrawing a tweet, once it's out there, it's out there, no point deleting it. Of course Sandro had ulterior motives when he put that tweet out there, he's rightfully upset but at the same time he didn't directly insult him - unlike Tim

Oh please! He said he likes Sandro and his has good qualities but he isn't currently good enough to be selected. There were then perhaps some indirect comments about picking the team on what they do in training and on the pitch and not on reputation or price tag. If anyone regards that as an insult then they've led a very sheltered life!

Exactly, I've seen nothing out of turn said by Tim and Sandro will obviously be disappointed not to be selected but there's no evidence to suggest he's insulted etc. He said similar about Chadli and Paulinho both of whom are now playing. I do wonder if some posters on here are more precious about the comments Sherwood makes than the players themselves....

I think it's just an excuse to push an agenda.

They can't really find fault with Sherwood's results, so they look elsewhere for ammunition.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

You cannot fix this with the players we have. There isn't one player in our defence I would put my house on to make the crucial tackle when needed.

How come Pulis can make Palace so compact then within a few weeks of taking over. Are their players so much better than ours? A good manager/coach can drill a team well and get them organised.

Yes, i would agree with you if you have time, players on form and consistency. The manager has had a totally disruptive time with our back four:

Walker - everyone's first choice.Currently injured.
Naughton - not good enough
Dawson - injured. Great heart but legs have gone.
Verts - everyone's first choice CB. Shocking form and attitude. Currently injured
Kaboul - pale impersonation of last years player. Being kind, still recovering from injury. Error prone and lacks confidence.
Vlad - again being kind, recovering from long injury layoff. Looks classy on ball, but not strong, good in the air or fast. Not a good combo for a CB.
Rose - only choice at LB. Again being kind, hugely disappointing.

TS ( or even Pulis) really can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

What he HAS done is get us scoring again. After 15 goals in our first 16 games, our last few games have been:

W 3 goals
L 0 goals
W 5 goals
D 3 goals
W 3 goals

So, three wins a draw and a defeat. Not too shabby. 14 goals in five games, almost averaging three a game. He may not have fixed our defense, which is not really a surprise given the above circumstances, but not many have achieved that record either recently.

While his off field antics haven't endeared TS to me, I certainly don't think the level of criticism on here is warranted.
