Re: Temporary Tim

Maybe Levy is just deliberately easing us in on the idea of Sherwood taking over? If he'd been put in charge for the remainder of the season straight away there would have blood bath on the forums and possibly in the stands as well. We were only told there were discussions going on. Now that we know more about him it's easier to at least give him an interim job.

Re: Temporary Tim

Some excellent posts in this thread, I wish there was a thumbs up button to show what you agree/disagree with but I'm not gonna go through saying "+1" everywhere.

I think Tim is talking himself out of the job - he is saying he won't do it for the season, he will only do it if it is full time. I'm not sure Levy responds well to threats like that. He should just be happy to get a chance to show his worth and have a huge audition for the season. Maybe he thinks the players won't respond if he is interim, but it does come across very ballsy, which I'm not sure is Levy's cup of tea.

I wouldn't say it's a threat. It's not good for the club to have an interim manager, it needs to be sorted before the New Year. It's actually quite refreshing, most interim managers usually don't come out so openly and say they want the job.

Re: Temporary Tim

At least we know the kids coming through would get a chance under Tim. AVB wouldn't even give them a few minutes in the ropey.

Re: Temporary Tim

Sherwood has done himself no harm at all. He's been bold, got the team to attack and create more chances and he has got players onside -- Adebayor and all the youngsters will love him, as they will fancy getting a go in the team. Some of the new signings might not be so enthralled, but I'm already sure Lamela and Soldado prefer how the team is set-up now to the AVB setup.

Levy may as well give him the job. We all know that he'll sack him if it goes badly anyway. And I think it'd increase our chances of having a good season if we just have the manager issue settled ASAP.

You could be right. Maybe he's allowed the media to link us with everybody going, and 1 by 1 they all knock it back...leaving us with Sherwood as the only option, who has -- in the meantime -- got some good performances and results under his belt, making it an easier sell to us fans.

Re: Temporary Tim

This is the thing though we are always second guessing Levy......

as of now all we know is 'a further statement will be released in due course' or something along those lines....

Levy likes to operate in the shadows the silent assasin if you like.....

while I dont want him to go ott I think our fans deserve some answers....namely

-whats going on with stadium?
-why did you hire avb?
-why did you sack avb?
-what is our direction/aims for the next 5 years......what structure is in place....what does baldini do??????? what are our aims in 5 years???????

dont expect him to be Dave Whelan but i would love those questions answered.......& we are a great club.....so having an 'interim manager in place for too long isnt good......You sacked AVB levy so is Sherwood plan b??????? if so just give him the job so we know where we all stand.

Re: Temporary Tim

Sherwood's comments like “I like attackers to attack, defenders to defend and midfielders to do a bit of both. In the second half, we did that perfectly” and "Tim likened it to cartoon Inspector Gadget! “It was like a Go-Go Gadget leg! I saw it hit the net and it was a great feeling. He’s a top player" are almost exactly like a young Harry Redknapp and the polar opposite of AVB.

All good questions. Add "who has the final say when it comes to signings and why is the manager given players he did not ask for?" to that list.

I'm sure at the moment he is trying to distance himself from AVB to make it look like a clean break and a fresh start. But what he says in press conferences doesn't necessarily tell us a lot about his approach on the training ground or where he what direction he wants to take the team in.

What has he got to gain from answering these questions? What if there were reasons behind AVB leaving that he would rather not make public?

Clearly models himself on HR. Probably learnt a lot from him while HR was at Spurs. BUT he is defiantly not HR. Despite the ****ney accent and matey press conferences, he doesn't have the experience and is his own man. Quite quite different person imo despite these similarities.

No fans = No club...

Would you not want those answered???????? as a paying customer....

Levy is answerable to the 35k fans that go every other week....or those like me that go when they can afford to.....

Dont get me wrong I am not anti-Levy but this notion that he isnt answerable to the fans I find repulsive..........

What possible reasons are there as to why he cant answer the AVB questions?????? he could just say he didnt meet my expectations.........

but I want to know about the clubs direction....and how our structure can help us achieve our aims.......and WTF is going on with stadium????naming rights??????? when is the damn thing going to be built..????????

dont you want to know????? I dont think the questions are unreasonable or insulting.

Re: Temporary Tim

He might answer those questions Nigey (if the trust put them to him) but the answers wouldn't necessarily be anything other than PR, telling us what we want to hear. We'll never know what their real motivations are, not until long after the event.

I don't think that the questions are unreasonable but the fans are not going to go anywhere if they are not answered, particularly if we keep on winning. Levy has never been in the habit of speaking publicly and I doubt that he is going to start now.

yes I know silent assasin and all that......

but he should answer to the trust.....as I said dont expect to hear him on talksport....

I dislike us being a laughing stock.....or I dislike the feeling when I cant see a plan....or if I see organised chaos.....

so I guess Levy is only answerable to Lewis........thats isnt right imo.

Bar the one about stadium I couldnt give a monkeys about those questions. Why did you hire AVB? Because he thought he was a good coach who could take us places obviously. What are the aims for the next 5 years? Really? Thats like that question you always get asked at an interview, where do you see yourself in 5 years....you just come out with a load of old nonsense that you feel you have to say that sounds like the right thing to say. Five year plans are a load of old rubbish as there are so many external factors that end up throwing you off course meaning you have to alter your original plans. What does Baldini do? When he was appointed it was stated on the website what his role would be.

We all want a bit of stability but don't think those questions will really tell us much....

If you are worried about being a laughing stock, Levy is best keeping schtum. Whatever he said would be twisted by the media to suit whatever narrative they were running at the time.

Yeah, I can't imagine him being as open and honest as many of us would like him to be. It's a shame because I loved it when he did the interview on SSN re: Modric. Just said I told him he's not going anywhere and he understood, no nonsense and impossible to misinterpret.

ok.....worrying about the club being a laughing stock should be the least of my worries....I grant you that.....I also grant you the media spin....and trying to paint levy as clueless.....

I would like those questions answered but I understand the situation....Dave Whelan isnt our chairman.
