Re: Temporary Tim

Bar the one about stadium I couldnt give a monkeys about those questions. Why did you hire AVB? Because he thought he was a good coach who could take us places obviously. What are the aims for the next 5 years? Really? Thats like that question you always get asked at an interview, where do you see yourself in 5 years....you just come out with a load of old nonsense that you feel you have to say that sounds like the right thing to say. Five year plans are a load of old rubbish as there are so many external factors that end up throwing you off course meaning you have to alter your original plans. What does Baldini do? When he was appointed it was stated on the website what his role would be.

We all want a bit of stability but don't think those questions will really tell us much....

yep thats it.......who gives a **** about tomorrow.....its all about today......

A well managed club keeps an eye on today and plans for tomorrow......managers come and go but Levy (if he is with us for 5 years) must surely have an idea of where he wants us to be.......I get it that some deride 5 year plans....personally I want a vision from the chairman.....targets & goals progress made.

I agree we could all be fed a load of bull about a five year plan.......but honestly people.........we are second guessing levy......we dont know his intentions at the minute we look like an organisation with no plan and a tendency to make rash deciscions!!

Re: Temporary Tim

Sherwood's comments like “I like attackers to attack, defenders to defend and midfielders to do a bit of both. In the second half, we did that perfectly” and "Tim likened it to cartoon Inspector Gadget! “It was like a Go-Go Gadget leg! I saw it hit the net and it was a great feeling. He’s a top player" are almost exactly like a young Harry Redknapp and the polar opposite of AVB.

It really isn't that important to me how the manager comes across provided we get good results and play good football. Obviously if he's embarrassing himself or the club, that's not good, but I just don't see why people judge him by the way he speaks.

Re: Temporary Tim

Looks like Glenn has officially come out and said he will be happy short or long term. I would prefer end of season max if FDB is not an option

Re: Temporary Tim

No fans = No club...

Would you not want those answered???????? as a paying customer....

Levy is answerable to the 35k fans that go every other week....or those like me that go when they can afford to.....

Dont get me wrong I am not anti-Levy but this notion that he isnt answerable to the fans I find repulsive..........

What possible reasons are there as to why he cant answer the AVB questions?????? he could just say he didnt meet my expectations.........

but I want to know about the clubs direction....and how our structure can help us achieve our aims.......and WTF is going on with stadium????naming rights??????? when is the damn thing going to be built..????????

dont you want to know????? I dont think the questions are unreasonable or insulting.

Coincidentally, I think that's pretty much exactly the kind of roadmap Baldini and Levy tried to ask AVB about last Sunday night. It appears he wasn't having any of it though.

Re: Temporary Tim

This won't go down well on here but Jamie Redknapp said English managers aren't given enough of a chance at the top clubs and in English football in general. He also went on to say football fans in this country are seduced by the allure of foreign coaches and that isn't always a good thing, ahem Gutterboy might be one of those he's talking about:p

Even if he's right about every word of that, it's still classic Jamie Redknapp fence-sitting, cliché-ridden bolloxology.

Exactly? who the **** cares if we win and produce good football.

Not being funny but i'm sure in AVB's book there was probably a scientific breakdown where he applied various theories, as well as a mathematic breakdown of how certain tactics are unbeatable. Certain people might lap this up....and will continue to ignore and make excuses for what they see with their eyes because they prefer to go with what they read. How can we possibly be this ****e at home for one and a half seasons, creating next to nothing they ask themselves...before reading another chapter of the book and completely forgetting what they had seen a minute ago.

No English coach has won anything of note since Howard Wilkinson in the late 80s/early 90s.

I'd love an English coach, but like English players, they aren't schooled well enough and they don't go out and learn from other cultures (Roy Hodson and Bobby Robson excepted).

No I agree with you I was only playing. But I do also feel we don't give our coaches a chance.

I thought Sherwood went abroad and learnt from various clubs?

What about the coaches in our youth system who coach against foreign teams and in over seas competitions so they do have experience of different football styles.

That is relevant if you are referring to managing England...... how playing in spain & Italy (germany maybe) is going to stand you in good stead for playing in the prem is beyond me!

why are we always so harsh on ourselves???? Ross Barkley did a few things earlier...I guarantee if it was a argentine we would all be chafeing over it!!!!

we dont need other cultures to be more effective in the prem. our seven signings need to get our culture to start being more effective!!

Re: Temporary Tim

Schteve won the Dutch league and the English league cup. Even took Boro to a UEFA cup final.

Re: Temporary Tim

and he's ripping it up with Derby. I've always thought McLaren was a good manager, just harshly treated because of the whole English fiasco.

Re: Temporary Tim

He's also failed at a few clubs. Just shows the amount of luck and timing you need unless you have unlimited resources.

Re: Temporary Tim

or just not given time.

Wolfsburg, Twente (second time) and Forest have all improved since he left. Sometimes it's just about being there at the right time, regression to mean and all that, but change for the sake of it can have an effect.

Re: Temporary Tim

English coaches aren't as good because it's far harder for them to get into top jobs to show/prove their qualities as a manager. Abroad the big clubs hire from lower sides or promote from within.

Re: Temporary Tim

Started writing this in the Lamela thread, but not really sure where it should go:

Should Lamela be given a run because he cost so much when players like Lennon and Chadli have arguably done better? There's obviously not room for all of them, so how do you decide who to use more sparingly?

If Paulinho and Capoue really were AVB's choices and Eriksen and Lamela was Baldini, will Sherwood seek to marginalise the former two?

If there is one thing I hate about managers it's when the selection of players isn't based on ability, but to prove points or just pure favoritism.
