Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I can see where you're coming from, but at the end of the day, even though we've been awful, we're still not that far away from 4th (by the end of March we will be).

We'd only need him to have pulled us out twice to be level on points with Liverpool. Had we not sold him we might not have signed some of the ****e we have too!
it would have been too much for him. At least at Liverpool Suarez has Sturridge, Coutinho and Gerrard sharing the creative and goal workload. At Spurs it was all about Bale and nothing else. Levy has no intention of spending money we dont have. We had to sell Bale to invest in the rest of the squad. That investment never would have come had we not sold him

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Just watching goals on sunday and just watching the players was embarrassing. They just capitulated and their body language was a thing of hell. You cant blame TS for that. The players were a disgrace, they just did not care. These are grown men we are talking about, they shouldnt need to be told to keep going at 1-0 or 2-0.

It comes up but all those goals may as well have been us putting the ball through our own net... the worst goals we have conceded recently

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Why will it come back to haunt him? How can anyone agree with the players or disagree with what he said yesterday? He was bang on the money, and if they want to disagree with him they are massively in the wrong again.

He was bang on the money but he shouldn't have said it in public. Saying it in public is a massive humiliation for those boys particularly as footballers have big egos. He should have pulled the fellas he was talking about to the side and given them a rocket.

He will go into training on Monday and all of the players will be wondering "Was he talking about me?". If the players are left in the dark, then they'll all assume the worst or at least worry that it's a possibility. If he singles out the players he was talking about individually in front of the group, then they aren't going to play for him. If those players are, say, Vertonghen and Walker for example then they are players, whatever we think about them as people, that we need to have playing well because they are two of our better players.

It was a stupid thing for him to do. A real rookie error. Levy is going to take a dim view of it. Have no doubt. He'll wonder is Tim up to the job because, by Tim's own admission, he can't get the best of of the players and when it goes wrong he has a rant in public. That's not how you do things if you're employed by a man like Levy.

Seems strange then that we pretty much went out and spent as soon as the window opened and apparently before we'd agreed to sell him. Either Your right and Levy was lying to us all along (very likely) or we were planning to make some additions (not 100m worth) keep Bale and try to mount a challenge to become regular CL contenders.

We obviously would be better of if the latter situation is true. If the former the question is would we still be better off with Bale but no new signings?

I genuinely don't know. If we could do it all again Eriksen is probably the only one of our new signings I'd definitely still sign if I knew Bale was staying.

You could argue that if one or two players drop their heads then those one or two players are the problem. If five or six do it, then the problem is either with the management or the culture at the club.

Levy couldnt give a flying fcuk what TS does. All TS is doing is filling a hole created by Levy until Levy gets the man he wants

You're* sorry can't edit on phone and that would have annoyed me had I done nothing about it

Don't agree with that. We were in the hunt for top 4 when TS was appointed and Levy wants top 4. Sherwood said a much yesterday. There's no way Levy is not paying attention.

Didn't he also give him an 18 month contract rather than one for 6 months?

 Levy wants top 4 and he appoints a guy who has never managed a professional group of players before???? =D> thats a good one

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Levy doesn't want top 4?!? That's an even better one. =D>
hey i want 10 million quid in the bank and a supermodel wife but unfortunately right now its not possible so i just have to be happy with my lot. Doesnt stop me hoping though;)

Hence TS said what he said yesterday. It may not be the Management as this happened before TS also. It is a cultural thing hence what I said yesterday about how the issue is through the core of the club - the culture. TS mentioned leaders yesterday and he recognises what the issues are. You can try to make leaders out of the current lot but that takes so so much time.

I think Sandro can be a leader though but even he looked shell shocked yesterday.

So you agree then that Levy does want top 4?

just Levy trying to be smart.

of course he does, but employing a man who has never been a manager before to achieve a top 4 finish is asking for a miracle. Levy may want it but the decisions he makes dont help facilitate what he wants

A man like Levy :ross: a clueless ***.

So what if the players are wondering? If they don't put a **** load of effort in to put it right then they prove TS is right. I really think this culture or idea of 'protecting the players' and 'leaving it in the dressing room' is a load of crap. If this sort of capitulation has happened once, you can almost excuse it or chalk it up to a one off, an off day. It's the third time it's happened now, alongside losing to garbage like Norwich. The players deserve to be told how utterly poor their standards have dropped to. It's unarguable, TS hasn't gone too far, his reaction was entirely justified

So you're saying Levy does want top 4 but has made a bad decision in terms of getting us there this season?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Do elaborate...

a 6 month deal shows that TS is simply a caretaker until the new man comes in. Plus there is now way TS would have taken the job under such circumstances. The 18 month deal is a compromise. Levy has someone in the hotseat until the summer and TS gets to act like a real manager in order to raise his own profile. Win win
