Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Not sure about his press conference.

He's looking for a reaction from the players

He may isolate people
The team played well until Verts made a mistake. A slip. Then the ref sent off Kaboul. You don't punish genuine errors like that. Shi1 happens you can't control.

In some ways, if I'd busted a gut out there, I'd want TS to at least acknowledge that. There was some good signs. It was not all doom. But I like his attitude. He is not happy with loosing and wants a reaction. For this not to happen. That is good. Just don't loose the players in the process.

I think he was upset as maybe he saw 4th and his job slipping away. But if he wins the EL, I'd give him the job, so all to play for, and there are a chunk of games left in the league. If TS stays, I'd a like a more experienced coach in there with him. You need all the support you can get.

I agree with a lot of that

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

oh no you didnt!

er ok Tim has been head of youth set-up and hepled nuture players into our first team. How in the name of Zeus's butt-hole can he be acountable for the top level decisions at the club??? oh I forgot he had Levy's ear and bended it to his will...

Utter utter pig swill.....LVG has known sucess and also failure.

This is to you too Gutter

I agree with Nigey, just because Tim knows how things work doesnt mean he isnt a 'fresh' pair of eyes' just look at his conference today and how he alluded that things need to change inside... this is a guy that wont take it up the **** no matter how well he knows Levy et al.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

So some of you think TS should get the job for longer purely because of his post-match comments??

Wow. Perhaps I should apply for the job too, and get an actor friend to write me a good speech.

No doubt if we get dingdonged by the Goons next weekend (due to showing lots of 'heart', leading to a sending off, leading to being run rings round) he'll say something similar and you'll want him even more

Not the sole reason

Errr... wasn't he the one who begged for a "ten year contract"' and also said "we've got great players and we don't need any more" in the January window?
If something really was wrong, why did he say those things? Why did he, apparently, turn down the chance to buy in January?

Funny how now 'things need to change'..

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Tactics were a mess today so were his pre match comments. He set up to defend like midtable fodder and said we were just along for the ride, so how he can get quite so upset when his players put in a disinterested half-arsed performance i dont know

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

How has he marginalised Lamela? Sherwood's been in charge for 13 games and had Lamela available for about two of them? Eriksen had played virtually every game up until a couple of weeks ago and Soldado has still featured in most of them. AVB barely played Lamela at all, he dropped Eriksen and had Defoe ahead of Soldado for a few games.

He makes these warped statement to get a reaction....i'm sure he knows full well it's not the case but it's irrelevant to him if it's true or not.

I see your point, but these players have been lack-lustre when tactics have been simple, when they've been different, when they've been odd and 'unique' (today)…I think they absolutely should take their share of the can.

He may isolate people

Straight from the Redknapp school of management - divide and conquer.

Once you've created Us and Them you tell all of Us to keep performing so that you don't become one of Them.

It isnt about buying players. Youre missing the point. Buying players will not solve the issue. The issue is inherent. The issue is within the core of the club. Buying players just masks the issues. What youre proposing is akin to painting over a ****in car when the real issue is with the engine.

Who motivates and sets up these players though? Sherwood talks bull**** about being able to trust some players but not others but presumably sent out a team with players he couldnt trust? Its down to him, he set the mentality and the tactics backed that up

In fairness, I wonder if it was that calculated? You're giving him 'credit' there…to me, he looked stunned and a bit lost, thus wore it on his sleeve. Unwisely in many many many ways, and I'm sure when I've thought about it for another day or so I'll be disappointed he did. But right now, given my own frustration, it felt good to hear from him...

I don't think Redknapp would have come out and had a pop at the players in this circumstance. As above, that maybe good - TS is a winner and won't settle for less - or bad if he doesn't recognise that his team is developing and they need praise and encouragement too.

He has already isolated you. If he took the team to the EL final, would you give him some credit?

Do you absolve them 100% of today? Of Norwich? Of Cardiff? Genuine question.

The real issue is that our car is some crappy old Fiesta and we're trying to race Maseratis. That's OK if you put Kimi Raikkonen in the driver's seat, unfortunately we have to keep our L plates on.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Thanks, so two games we lost then.

Eh? We went out on pens vs Basle. No doubt if it was today we would have been dingdonged during extra time.
You have to admit that in the 2012/13 season we hardly ever capitulated, save maybe the 5-2 at the Emirates.
I know people will talk about the 7 point lead vs the Goons, but they had by far an easier run-in compared to us, and fair plays to them, their form after the NLD was almost demonic.

We've had a glorious history of capitulating when iffy/unlucky events happen to us in our games. Funnily enough two of our most derided recent managers were the ones who seemed to be able to put in systems in place to cope admirably when playing with 10 men...TS just seems to be keeping on a long tradition of a soft underbelly when the going gets tough/tricky

Kimi will end up ****ing off after a season when he realises how **** the car is. However a great driver who knows how a car operates and what the real issues are, will be successful. You want to hire a driver rather than the mechanic and the driver. TS I see as both simply because he knows the club inside and our and knows what these real issues are He cant do anything about it now because all this is just temp until the summer.

No. What I'm saying is that it's easy for Sherwood to say 'there are massive problems at the core of the club' when his team gets dingdonged after a sending off/bad luck, but then previously he said all was effectively 'hunky dory'...so much so he said something along the lines of "we've got a great squad, we can do a lot with the players already here".

He can't say one thing and then say the other

Indeed.

And that's why at the end of the day, the true pressure sits on Levy's shoulders…his clock is really starting to tick loudly. I've supported him for a while, but we are getting to a vanishing point.

Next week's game happens the day after my birthday. I am actually dreading it. I never dread NLDs. Never. I think it could prove to be a big moment in our modern history...
