The transfer thread

My instinct is that there we will another early signing, and perhaps a late one.

For the late one to happen, my eyes would be on movement with Gil, Reggie and Solomon. Will Spurs make those deals attractive now?

15m for a back up goalie seems a bit steep and I think Forster is OK as cover for the season, he's not been terrible. We need to decide if Vicario is no1 long term and address that part first.
I think it's really important to consider the impact that our keeper has on how we build our attacks.

Forster is a good shot stopper and has shown himself to beore than adequate at that, but he's a recent, former international, so he's clearly got something.

What he isn't is a modern keeper who is as good with his feet as an outfield player. This means we can't rely on his distribution to set things in motion in the same way that we can with Vicario.

Keeper is a key position for us, it terms of the way we play out, hence the need for a good keeper who is excellent with his feet.

You have to feel for Solomon. He's doing great at Leeds but never got a chance with us after his injuries.

I think we should be cheeky and offer Van Dijk and Salah what ever money they want on a 2 year contract, i know they will either stay at Liverpool or go to Madrid or the like but why not try.

Agreed but in my view Forster is good enough as back up for the season with Vicario due back next month. Irrelevant now, we'll have to see how the new GK is.

If Whiteman left us this month, numerically it's the same as before the transfer window. Just more competition for places.

Its not though, as its swapping a CT player for an OS one. That's particularly important for europe as it now takes us 3 players over our limit for that. So we'll need to drop Forster or Werner from that squad (or both if we want to get Spence in too)

It's about trade-offs I guess. I think you're probably right, in one respect....club trained.

We have 6 association trained players and Madds, Solanke, Johnson are priority. The other 3 are Spence, Forster and Davies. You can only have 4 named in a UEFA squad. The other 2 will have to compete in the pool of 17 including U21's who haven't completed 2 seasons with us - Gray, Bergval, Yang etc.

Our UEFA squad will include Venom, Austin and Gunter. We obviously can have Whiteman for nothing as well if we want to. I'm not sure it can have both Forster and Kinsky though at the expense of another player in the 17. That still leaves Krasniqi and Maguire from our U21s or the 3 in the U18s.

Whiteman is purely a comfort blanket in any scenario.

Gone are the days when you signed a player based on his ability in a service station on the M1.

You can have 25 association trained players in your squad. As long as at least 4 of them are club trained.
