The transfer thread

I dion't understand why we aren't banging Barcelona's desks to get either Chrisensen or Olmo on a short-term loan through the summer? It would allow Barca to register the other, allow the player not registered to pay regular high-profile football, get us immediate international class class quality in one of the areas we desperately need it, and does not destroy any long-term youth ascension plans. It seems like a no-brainer to me.
What am I missing (go easy folks, go easy :))???
Maybe we asked and were told there's no hope in hell they would leave Barca for us right now.

Although I agree both are excellent players

Don't think he was presenting it as an insight into what will happen, but as an insight as to what the club are debating internally in the run up to the window.

It's even less likely that he knows the inside track of board meetings than he does of our transfers.
What possible reason would the board have to tell him any of that.

The rest of the clubs in Europe

The Sun are leading with "6 Premier League clubs to fight....."

That's just the UK version of how this plays out.

Then we've all got that feeling that the "deadline" is not a deadline at all. Some time in January Barca will squirm out of it, probably after someone like Frenkie de Jong leaves. I'd get him in on loan.

Indeed...I think if Olmo wants to stay at Barca to see if a resolution can be found, it plays into our hands. Of the two, I'd probably rather Christensen short-term. Olmo would be superb, but if he left them for good I think he'd end up at City (providing they teflon their way through the charges)...

We will know what the club are doing transfer wise when the club want us to know.
Olmo will be highly regarded, no way would be leaking if we were in talks about him and alerting others he is available.
Although obviously his agent and barca probably won't be so discrete.
Not that I think we're in for him, but I don't expect any info until deals are all but done.

Did we not dither over Calafiori last summer? Was he not scouted pre-Euros but we just, well, did 'us'? Anyway...I am not holding out any hope that we step onto the pitch against Newcash with any new players. I'd not be surprised if we don't do anything for a couple of weeks at least. It just doesn't feel great does it?

I read we looked at about 250 players in the summer so he could have been one on the click bait sites.

I think you're hating on the wrong person. The reason I pay attention to Ali Gold is precisely because he doesn't pretend to be that "ITK" he doesn't do bullsh*t and a lot of his stuff i find genuinely insightful about the club. He even moans about not really understanding what is going on around the club. He won't have been told anything directly from the board but he does have sources probably lower down and (so he says) will only post or put out something if it has been verified by two separate sources.

I wouldn't personally speak to journalists about sensitive information about my work, particularly as when I am involved in sensitive info its usually under an NDA. But I'm not involved in the top level (board and ex-co) discussions at my work, but I do find out about those discussions and sometimes I'm asked to input into them. So it's perfectly reasonable to think that discussions over transfer strategy at top level get disseminated down to people in, say, the scouting and analytical teams or agents that deal with spurs like CCA Base (who will likely be briefed at some point on what spurs are thinking about transfer wise) some or whom would be willing to pass on some vague snippets to select journos.

I'm not hating on anyone, I just don't believe him and wouldn't encourage anyone else to.
And that goes for any of these people.
The only reason to be on YouTube is to sell you something, if they don't have something to sell they have to make it up.
Recent history would suggest that no one knows about our transfer dealings until the club wishes them to.

Good post. This is a key aspect.
I think the club have done a lot of work to not use the 'lower tier leak' as a tactic in their transfer dealings, as it appears Lange and co like the opposite approach. However the one thing no NDA can ever take away is 'the one'...there is always one whisperer, which then becomes two and so on. It happens everywhere. I am not disagreeing with you BTW, but there is always a chance of leaking whenever more than one person has sensitive info regardless of NDA's (I am also aware I now sound like Capt. Obvious!)...I would say that some of the tidbits that get floated are still legitimate; they might not always be transfer related, but there is no club that can steel-trap its club.
As a side note, the best way to handle sensitive information is to either make sure you give it to as few people as possible, or if you don't need to know, do not go seeking it out. I think in every career there are egos involved who want to say 'they were right'...

I think THFC management could be watertight but the info can still leak due to other parties. There is 1 player, 2 clubs, 2 agents etc and due to the amount of people involved info can leak. Some parties in the arrangement will want it confidential. Others will clearly want it leaked e.g. to get a bidding war going for their player. All Munn and Lange can really do is keep their side of the bargain.

I did have a little chuckle when Hugo wrote in his book that he was out for dinner with the wife and kids on transfer deadline day. He wasn't going anywhere. Still though, information was leaking that he was about to become Nick Pope's number 2 at Saudi Sportswashing Machine the next day.

Exactly.
It's a football club, someone is always seeing something.

That’s absolute and complete utter tosh…

The Goat understands that the dragon and blue and yellow …. Can’t say much more than that

According to Romano, Spurs are still exploring options and are actively scouting players ahead of January, with the number of new signings likely to depend on available opportunities:

“They have already told the manager that they will do something. So I expect January to be busy for Spurs.
“I think it could be two signings, maybe three, I'm not sure, but it will depend on opportunities.
“But Tottenham are exploring options, Tottenham are actively working on scouting and following players. So I think for Tottenham it will be a busy month.”
WOW.....that's mind blowing analysis. 👀

It'll be the agents. It's always the agents. They're scum.

Yes, I wouldn’t touch Rashford with a barge pole.

As many have said, we should be wanting hungry players on the way up, not be propping up - not just financially, as that can be covered by United, but with status and all the trappings that London offers - those on the way down from their peak.

But putting in a cheeky bid for Kobbie Mainoo wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

So 4th or 5th hand information.....ooooo im so excited!

What a time to be alive:)

Stop being sensible in this thread.....shutting down transfer mental gymnastics. How dare you.

You won't be liked :)

I think on a 6 month loan he would be great. He clearly needs a new challenge and I think he’d want to show Man Utd that they were wrong not to play him.
They've played him this season, he's just been poor. Like he was last season also.

He possibly does need a fresh start, I'm not so sure that, that is what he needs to get firing again. The period of top class form for him is really the exception in his career rather than the norm.
