The transfer thread

I would love to see Wharton in our midfield reminds me of a young Carrick.

Don't like Bissouma, talks a good game but is a liability with his attitude and laughing gas brick.

Personally would like to see Donelly come back and play the Maddison role.
He would be great, but think he's out of our price range unfortunately.

Edit: Similarly to you I'm getting a bit tired of hoping for Bissouma to step up.

Time will tell. It's not him yet at least.

I don't think having another 6 instead of either Bissouma or Bentancur would hamper his development.

Meanwhile not having a tempo setting or playmaking DM is imo definitely hampering us as a team.

I think we got the option for Cardose because we see a need for further movement in that position at some point.

its our biggest weakness and should be a priorty in the summer.

If he is out of our price range then Hayden Hackney it is.

I think getting 20m for Bissouma and 20m for Gil, getting Reguilion off the books. Then we could get Wharton, he looks like a 60m pound player to me so a 20m shortfall but that should be doable.

They played nicer football under Warburton who I rated

He tells a different story. Like when they got to the prem they swapped to a back 3. Because when they were in the championship, playing lesser teams a back 3 was a nightmare to play against.

Yeah
I can see that making sense
And I reckon the data they have showed that
Their 2 DOFs have talked about how they worked with him on tens set up game by game

We still have a few free spots for overseas players
In the league
But we have to fix the European set up
We actually have a good number fo squad and starting players from England yet suffer more than most
Pool played the other day with no one form England and Arsenal only had rice yet both are complain because of their squad of players most of whom don’t play
Obviously in Pools case Bradley and Kelleher are classed as club trained too even though they play for other countries. And Saliba is for Arsenal

Is naturally fixed by having a bigger PL squad which allows fresher players in both competitions.

Yes, that has to be fixed. We could try to continually patch and fix and get by, but I think it needed fixing. Not fixing it just kicks the can down the road.

The way to fix it is either develop enough academy players to fill the club trained roles (would likely be difficult and take many years) and/or sign 18 year olds that can then go on the B list after two years and become club trained after that.

A combination of the two seems to be the way to go.

Don't think it's a coincidence that we've signed Gray, Bergvall, Yang and Vuskovic. As well as Odobert who I think will count as home grown, but not club trained in time. Add the talented academy lads and this issue could perhaps be fixed in a couple of years.

But it makes for a difficult period of <however long it takes> for these players to be fully trusted members of the squad capable of starting and performing also in league games.

And I don't think just signing them to loan them out was a viable strategy financially or with regards to player recruitment.
