The Society of Black Lawyers...

Such a policy would, I'm almost sure, be illegal. Being a society of lawyers, I'm confident they wouldn't fall into that trap.

So if someone started a SWL how long would it be before some social worker starting screaming about racism?

Ok, I'll say it slowly....

The 'Society of Black Lawyers' is an organisation for a minority group in the UK.
Just in the same way that you wont get a 'Society of White Lawyers' in the UK or another country in mainland Europe, North America or Australia/New Zealand, you also wont get a 'Society of Black Lawyers' in Nigeria, Jamaica, Ghana, Barbados etc.

I'm sure that is easy to understand, Yes?

So IF i started a SWL that would not be called racist, and sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, understand that?

Can you genuinely genuinely not see the difference? At all?

You don't get such societies of the majority in any country in the world. You won't get a society of Chinese lawyers in China. You won't get a society of Black lawyers in Kenya. You won't get a society of Asian doctors in India. Just as you won't get a society of white lawyers in a majority white country.

Organisations like this and the ASL (your heads are about to explode) exist to support the rights of their members. The problems encountered may be different for the different groups and require a different approach.

When British people go abroad, they form expat groups. Its a normal reaction.

i agree it might not make sense to do so, however it would be called racist and that is gonads.

A SWL in the context of the Uk being a country where the vast majority are white AND that historically there has not been large time period where being a white UK-born person has been a large factor in discrimination would be a) pointless b) potentially racist if a) is clearly true.

Why would you start a SWL in this scenario anyway?

Now we are getting down to it, its all right for black British lawyers to join a SBL but its racist for white British lawyers to join a SWL. can you not see how that is hypocritical.

You still don't get it do you?
I'll ask again, in the UK or other country where the vast majority of the population is white, why would you start a Society for White Lawyers? Again, what would be the point?
I see Hootnow has asked this as well

I give up, talk about chips on shoulders.

lol, absolutely no chips on shoulders believe me. Until this Terry/Clattenburg issue I didn't know there was a SBL.

You don't seem to get the point that you cannot compare a SBL in the UK (and probabaly not in say Nigeria) with an equivalent SWL in the UK (and perhaps one in Nigeria).

I think it's probably yoiu with the chip on the shoulders:-"

You wouldnt. Why would you need one for black lawyers though? You don't. Just have a society for lawyers.

i would not but i do not see the difference between black British lawyers joining a SBL then white British lawyers joining a SWL. seems to me to be Hypocritical

As I said, until there is real equality between the races in professions like law, there will be groups like this to protect the interests. I'd rather there wasn't but that is the reality.

If the white lawyer population were to have a special set of interests to protect, then there would be every reason to set up such a group. But they don't and there isn't.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. Enjoy yourselves!

I wonder how stringent the Society of Black Lawyers are about who can join, there are many shades of black afterall.

i have no reasons to have a chip on my shoulder i believe everyone is equal no matter what colour or race, however its seems that the word racism is only used one way and for one side. Now i do not blame anyone for this but its one of the problems we will never solve until all are treated the same way by the word racism.
