The Official 2024/25 Premier League Thread

I'm guessing he got the word from Liverpool, as the manager of Feyenoord wouldn't normally turn down Tottenham, PL, and £££.
Hmmm Slot was seen as potentially one of the big managers. He was on the radar for Barca, Liverpool etc. I think the Spurs job would have been a risky choice for him to take tbh even without any club coming to him directly.

There is precious little left of the beautiful game, now it's all about cheating and getting unfair advantages. Jamie Buttface Vardy clips his own heels and runs wild eyed and screaming up in the refs face, all without any reaction. Unless they start giving straight reds for that brick, it will never end.

Are you saying in a round about way that the referees should apply the laws of the game rather than ignoring them? GHod forbid !!!

Have you put this great idea in their heads at all?

Really trying to not be the victim but I clearly remember when we were looking at Slot and the media was questioning his fit, Spurs taking a risk, etc. The minute Liverpool looked at him, he's the 2nd coming of fudging Jesus ...

I guess it depends on what media you saw. At the time I was very pro Slot, he seemed like the right kind of manager for us to go for. A builder and someone who plays attractive football. In the end we got Ange who I feel is cut from the same cloth so it's hopefully going to work out but I can't lie and say I wasn't disappointed when we didn't get Slot at the time.

And give is 6 months and the wind will have changed again. Ange was the second coming when we were on a run this time last season.

Liverpool have picked another really good manager there.
They also picked the nicest fixture list in history! If a manager could pick and chose an easy introduction to the premier league, it would be the one Liverpool got. They've done well, but Slot took over a well oiled machine, and is playing a very similar style to Klopp. Didn't really need to do anything.

On the opposite side, Ange needed to perform open heart surgery on the entire structure, from style, squad and fan base.

Liverpool will get a sticky patch, no doubt. That's when we'll se how good Slot is.

That's a fair assessment. Liverpool are a very good side, even last season Klopp got them back into the title contention chat so we know the quality of raw materials. Slot just needed to evolve what they already did to fit his philosophy.

Nearly as easy as what Arsenal had the year they massively bottled the league
