The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

Had the underlying feeling that Utd didn't fancy facing City in a cup final and getting a proper drubbing on the world stage of a cup final.

Moyes can be let off because his players wasted so many good chances. Maybe Mata will wait around to see if anyone better comes in for him, especially if Rooney is off soon (won't sign another contract apparently).

Fracking hell, what nerve racking extra time, then get tamely bundled out on pens - the New Yarrrnited ! hahahaha lol

Enjoyed that and thoroughly deserved. You can always tell a player that will miss a pen. Gary Neville new United manager soon...

Really telling that penalty shootout all of United's young "phenoms" didn't have the bottle. You could just see it in their faces, whereas say what you want about Darren Fletcher but you know he was burying his pen

Was watching it on a stream with the news on in the background. Rafael/Fabio stepping up and the news were in there first! Feckers

Yarrnited were lucky, they'd have been humiliated at wemberrrly if they faced Emirates Marketing Project - now Sunderland should just enjoy the day out, if Emirates Marketing Project are half arsed about winning the capital one cup. Really enjoyed catching the last minutes of the game, it was perfection, absolutely hysterical !

Hate to say it, but this is exactly what Moyes teams have always been.

Whenever it truly matters = bottle it

i wouldn't call this a moyes team yet, Fergie's left him a bit of a mess, i wonder how long it will be before Sir Alex starts to get a bit of the blame for all this

I just don't agree with that I'm sorry! The endless excuses for moyes is getting ridiculous now, I've no idea where this love for him comes from? You can say what you like about the squad fergie's left (and most of it is complete over elaborated BS) but they should not only be beating Sunderland over a two legged semi final but hammering them!!

Umm, he left him a squad that won the league and had confidence coursing through its veins. Maybe they achieved what they did because of the 'Fergie effect' but all that means is that one of the biggest clubs in the world had one of the best managers. And that is what they wanted from Moyes - someone to show true, top-level managerial ability.

Moyes really looked lost out there yesterday. He had this blank stare when the penalty takers where to be chosen. Just looked like he was elsewhere, really. I wonder how long they'll stick with him.

Oh dear!

The more I see Moyes, the more I think United have just chosen a convenient guinea pig to pin the blame on as the inevitable slump post-Fergie gets into full swing.

They'll probably give him until the summer to show United fans how horrible their team can get before sacking him and appointing Mourinho or somebody similar, who can then build his own dynasty at the club by a) justifying a clear-out of all the players he doesn't like on the grounds that they were horrific in 2013/2014, b) bringing in players he wants (at a high cost if necessary) because United will have kept their powder dry throughout the Moyes period, and c) slowly build his own side free from the pressure that dogged Moyes, because the 'replacement for Fergie' effect is greatly diminished and the scope for slow building will be greater given Mourinho's (or somebody similar's) glowing track record and the fact that it really can't get any worse than the 2013-2014 season.

It all adds up, and I think it's certainly a real possibility. The people running United are no fools, and Fergie certainly isn't. I find it inconceivable that they decided that the man they wanted to give the first six years after Fergie to was David Moyes, a manager who has never won anything in his career, and who career high was getting Everton to fourth that one time in the mid-2000's (before crashing out in the qualifiers, if I remember correctly).

absolutely spot on......and for all their truly sexy football, i still think Emirates Marketing Project will end up trophyless this year. Pellegrinis teams tend to bottle it when it matters
