The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

Its depressing having to watch players that are woefully short of the required standard. Cleverly, Smalling etc absolutely dross. Simply not good enough. Townsend also nothing like but not as bad as Cleverly. I haven't seen enough of Lallana to comment be he is just invisible.

Throw into the mix that I live in Germany and I'm going to get serious grief at work tomorrow and it makes for a frustrating watch.

I think Smalling has been decent enough. Not really troubled that much. Walker also pretty assured beyond the odd misplaced long ranger but it's hardly the most pressing concern.

Cleverley just doesn't look upto the same standard as the rest. I assume he does a great tactical job for managers and is a nice player to have in there keeping things ticking over, but he's never going to be the most exciting player.

Townsend has been good. A couple of times he has lost the ball but it's his job to try things. However I'm yet again impressed by his touch in tight areas, his decision making and pass selection in promising positions. He also reaches the byline a considerable amount of times which isn't an easy fear for a winger that's sometimes got 3 players on him from the 2nd ranked team in world football.

Lallana just needs to be trusted by the other players more. I think he's got the talent. I wonder if he could play Cleverley's position and he get someone with some more inventiveness on the left?

Overall, good performance. Unlucky to be behind and good evidence of movement and fluidity. Good job Roy.

Walkers passing has been atrocious

Wolves 0-1 down to Oldham in a FA Cup 1st round replay. It's quite possible that the mood on their forums is even worse than on Spurs ones.

Yeah, er, way to go Roy. Great stuff.

When it gets to the point that we're claiming Townsend, Lallana to be of the correct quality, and on the other side there's Reus and Goetze, you know your going to struggle to be fair.

Is there really such a dearth of English talent at the moment that were actually reduced to a central midfield pairing of Henderson and Cleverly. That is actually disgusting. What an absolutely vile midfield. Hideous and quite honestly an embarrassment.
