The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

Villa are in the top half. All the teams we've played bar Arsenal and Chelsea are bottom half sides. And in the Chelsea game, we dropped the 2 points that separate us from Arsenal. Not really much difference between the two sides so far.

I don't think it included just this season, talked about their form since they lost to us.

Bale injured for tonight....thigh injury again

dream dream start at Real

oh and Özil ripping it up at Arsanal.....Madrid are fcuking deluded cnuts

Read on here the other day that apart from us, all Arsenal's opponents have been bottom half teams. They have had a dream run. It will end.

Six games in to the season I'd be surprised if the top 4 have played many teams outside the bottom half of the division, that is why they're in those spots.

Bet you can bet your life if WE had tried to sign Ozil from them, they would have told us to go **** ourselves and probably added another Spurs player to their wishlist for next season just because we had the nerve to ask.

I thought that we enquired about him as part of the Bale deal but he wasn't interested in leaving Madrid at that stage.

Which really is the same as telling a woman you're not interested in that you're not in the right place for a relationship. Realistically, he must have wanted to leave Real Madrid and to join Arsenal. He just didn't want to join us as we're not at the level we need to be yet. When we're in the CL consistently, and can afford good wages, then those kinds of players will want to be joining us.

west brom, norwich, crystal palace there next 3 games too.

after that they do have liverpool, chelsea, man utd, southampton though.

Aside from losing to Villa the only other occasion when L'ARSEnal have dropped points to a team outside the Top 7 in their past 29 Premier League games, stretching back to the beginning of December, was when they drew at Southampton on New Years Day. They've played against 17 bottom half sides during that time.

Over the same period we've played 16 sides in the bottom half of which we lost to Fulham (h) plus drew against Stoke (h), QPR (a) Norwich (a) and Wigan (a) which negated our superior results against the top teams last campaign.

Hopefully their prolific run will soon come to an end and we'll prove to be more ruthless at dispatching those teams in the bottom half of the table this season, as Fergie showed that getting maximum points from those games can prove key to winning the title...

To be fair Isco has also been ****hot this season. Something like 5 goals in 4 games. Ramsey like.

I do hope that was tongue in cheek...

Last 22;

WWWWWDWDWWWLWWWWWWWWWW.

That's a really impressive run of results but every run comes to an end and the league (and cups) aren't won in October. Let's hope the wheels fall off soon and that they come to pay for their lack of depth.

This is why, when people ask "Aren't we up there with Arsenal?", the answer is no.

There is still a very clear edge there of, as Steve's excellent post shows, about 1/4 of a point per league game or whatever it is. And watching them dismantle Napoli last night the reason is clear - their passing, movement, positioning, gameplan etc. are totally settled and everyone knows what they are doing. It's like clockwork. We are still nowhere near that fluency - at least, that fluency isn't on tap for us as it is for Arsenal, who seem to just click into their game effortlessly and instantly when they hit the pitch.

...at the moment.

Right now they're in great form and looking really strong, they have all those qualities you're describing for sure. But how long will that last? We've seen teams look great well into the first half of the season only to look completely changed come the new year. And we've seen the opposite.

They're probably in the best form they've been in for years and years. I say come on regression to the mean, you can do it!

I'm not panicking about them yet, if they're still going like this come Jan then maybe, but the back end of last season and this season they've beaten no one that strikes fear in me. They labored past us, before we've gotten in to our stride, still think we have a couple of gears to go now as well.

Arsenal ALWAYS, every season go on a run like this and everyone starts sucking them off, only to then go on a 10 game **** streak usually around jab feb March when they get knocked out of everything inc the title race.

Good start, but that's all it is so far, they're 2 points ahead of us and we've played Chelsea...

It is annoying that they are playing so well despite missing Cazorla, Walcott and Podolski plus Ramsey is actually looking like he can dictate play like Fabregas and Ozil has slotted straight into their team. Fingers crossed we'll have similar levels of fluidity once AVB and Baldini have had the chance to completely overhaul our squad and the new signings have settled.

Hopefully it is just another flash in the pan for L'ARSEnal... but as ManU showed last season you don't need to be able to dominate us or the other top teams in order to win the league if you can grind out wins against the rest plus have the officials help you out when required (like L'ARSEnal have done against Stoke and Sunderland in recent weeks)... guess we'll find out in the next couple of months whether they'll continue to be cannon-fodder for the other Champions League contenders...
