The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

People writing off United are getting carried away. They have played Liverpool, Chelsea and City already. They will be right up there

Yep and Moyes will crumble whenever it counts, and against all the big sides (see his Everton record)

I won't write United off, but still believe Moyes is nowhere near good enough, and they haven't bought well enough in Summer.

Are people writing them off?

I'm just seeing people describing them as currently not performing at the level we've come to expect from Manchester United.

They've had tough opponents so far, no doubt, and no doubt they will pick up a lot of points this season too. But there's an insecurity there that wasn't present under Ferguson. When they lost 6-1 (wasn't it) to City under Ferguson everyone knew they would turn it around. Now, losing 4-1 to City people aren't as sure is all.

I'm writing them off. This is worse than the 6-1. At least then they were down to 10 men and it was defensive naivety that led to them conceding 3 in injury time, and they dominated us for the first 20 minutes in that game. This time, they were tactically dominated for the full 90, and even though RVP was missing, I can confidently say that United will finish outside the top 4. I have never seen the club like this before. Not that I'm complaining.

But your boys lost to Cardiff and should have lost to Stoke. It doesn't matter so much that they lose to you if they beat Cardiff and Stoke where you failed

I just don't think Man Utds midfield is good enough.

They have some great players but for whatever reason they're not clicking yet. Change of manager and change of style is always going to lead to problems adapting but the issue is even more prominent with man United, whose most impressive aspect through the years has been fergies tactical nous and, crucially, the confidence it instilled in his teams.

Look at last seasons man u team compared, player for player, with the other 4 top sides and it's clear that they were massively, massively better as a team than the sum of their parts, more so than any other club.

Moyes' ability is largely irrelevant as whoever replaced fergie, the chances of them bringing in a system that could match one that had evolved over decades into the ultimate at dominating weak teams and grinding out results against the big teams in years let alone months, is almost non-existent.

Given time and moyes could be a success but short term they're going to need every one of rooney and vp's wonder goals to keep them in the mix.

I was very disappointed how Swansea capitulated to Arsenal last season. They are in great form but so are Arsenal.

After our game, obviously, this is the key game of the weekend.

Write them off at your peril. Fergie may have gone but Rooney looks like he's back to his best and Van Persie is still the best striker in the league. You have a better squad than them that's obvious, but those two can carry them.
