This takes the biscuit.

Hulk
Sometimes you read something so stupid you just feel like smashing your head repeatedly against the nearest wall. What a load of gonads.

If UEFA had any sense, any sense at all, they should tell Porto to sod right off and fine them for making such a joke of a complaint and making a mockery of serious issues. They're clearly only doing this because they're upset that someone has dared report their fans for the monkey chanting, which obviously they don't see anything wrong with.

Can you imagine if "unsporting" chants were outlawed (whatever that even means)? It'd end up like Wimbledon tennis, with everyone having to stay silent during play and then politely applauding both sides after a good move.

From F365's Mediawatch:

"To be honest, we can see Porto's point. The City fans were clearly taunting Hulk because of the colour of his skin which - if he was genuinely Incredible - would have course be green.

So, to summarise Porto's position - directing monkey noises at two black players = fine. Chiding a player because he's not actually a cartoon superhero = not fine."

Very good.

Stoke wanting out of the europa league?

Stoke: Sorensen, Diao, Huth, Woodgate, Collins, Arismendi, Delap, Palacios, Jerome, Jones, Fuller. Subs: Begovic, Pennant, Shotton, Dawson.

Not even taking seven subs...

Completely agree. One of my mates is always trying to convince me that the CL is the best football tournament and has overtaken the World Cup, but I still think the Euros and the World Cup are the highest standards of football.

Standards? Sorry, disagree entirely.

Entertainment or Spectacle? Absolutely, but not actual standard.

There is no way an enforced selection of players only able to train together a few weeks a year will play a better standard of football than a bespoke built team that represents the best (or among) a league has to offer and trains every day

Euro 2008 was one of the best football tournaments that I've seen, and that includes CL.

So....that means all international competition is of a superior standard to the premier domestic competition?

No. But the Champions League can be overhyped also. Many people have pointed out that the group stages are a snooze, teams like Barca and Madrid smashing teams like Apoel Nicosia. Even the knockout stages can be dull. Granted the last world cup was crap, but I still think it's the highest standard of football at its best.

In which case I can only suggest your definition of "standard of football" is very different to mine.

I cannot accept that there is better quality football at international level at all.

Palacios on top form deserves much better than Stoke.

Jonas from valencia interests me, think they picked him up for about 2m euros, and has done fairly well. Not often you can get a Brazilian international for that little, although he's only got a handful of caps...

In my opinion the CL tinkles all over the World Cup and the Euros. 2 legged football means teams play proper attacking stuff away from home, rather than in the WC when teams are really negative due to the fear of being knocked out. The teams play with each other all year round rather than for 4 weeks in one summer when they're not really training properly. Plus I don't have to be associated with knuckle dragging Ingerland fans.

Wolves still struggling to find a manager. Don't know why they sacked McCarthy AFTER the window. A new manager coming in would want assurances i.e. a 3 or 4 year contract.

Hard to say at a club like that. Their greatest ambition is the odd season in the EPL, nothing more.

I would be considering up and coming talent if I were their chairman, like Everton did with Moyes.

Otherwise they are destined for McCarthy/Bruce type cloggers for ever more...

Have they approached Warnock? Surprised if they haven't. He'd probably get them out of the championship next season cos' that's where they're going
