The Champions League IS boring. Group stages are just filler material. Big teams smashing small teams. Sometimes you will get a decent group if it's a new side from one of the big leagues. The last stages are becoming boring as well because it's mostly the same teams you've seen dozens of times before and the smaller teams usually use some very boring tactics. Key word: BORING.

Whenever there's a draw they always talk about possible rematches from last season. I don't want that, we already saw them play each other a year ago.

This is absolutely true. The CL is largely predictable and uninteresting, unless your team happens to be playing of course. This season it has perhaps been less predictable than usual, but I agree with everything you say there. The CL is greatly overrated as a tournament.

Completely agree. One of my mates is always trying to convince me that the CL is the best football tournament and has overtaken the World Cup, but I still think the Euros and the World Cup are the highest standards of football.

The only way to make it interesting again is to make it more exclusive, but as long as tv and sponsorship money keeps flowing in they won't change a thing and the biggest clubs are more than happy to have it this way as they're ALMOST guaranteed a last 16 spot. Some still manage to fudge it up though.

For example: Instead of 8 groups with 4 teams, try 4 groups with 6 teams and then straight to the QF. More diversity of opponents and more importance on each match as only 2/6 go through,

In theory the CL should be a higher standard, since the teams are made up of players who play together every week not just a couple of times per season like in the internationals, so they should be more comfortable with the tactical systems and are better at team moves. Also you get top international sides who have noticeably worse players in some positions than others, eg - Mertesacker gets in the German team just because there's no better CBs around, whereas a team as good as them at club level would have just signed a better one.

I do enjoy the World Cup more. Seems to be less predictable. But having said that, the last three tournaments didn't have many stand out games. Almost all of Spain's games ended 1-0!

Now that the WC has been increased to 32 teams I feel there are more negative teams than before. Haven't enjoyed the last 2 as much as previous ones.

Absolutely ridiculous, can you imagine the can of worms that would open if UEFA charged City for it?

Not sure you can be charged with unsporting conduct if your not actually playing on the field at the time, plus what they were saying wasn't particularly abusive..

More importantly they were right, he wasn't incredible and he does dive. Crazy move by Porto...

Porto should in turn be sanctioned for unsporting behaviour for complaining to UEFA about this in the first place, because "You're not incredible" is in the very best traditions of football chanting, so in seeking to sanction it they are betraying the game's traditions and acting in an ungentlemanly way. Do them, fudging idiots.

This sort of thing puts me off going to countries like Spain and Portugal. They clearly still live in the dark ages when it comes to racism. Ban Porto from all European competitions for the next few years and fine them 10 million euros, that'll make their supporters think twice before making monkey noises. The fact that they won't even admit there's a problem is laughable.
