[h=2]KEVIN PRINCE BOATENG last night warned Arsene Wenger: You don't have what it takes on the big occasions.[/h] In an exclusive SunSport interview, the AC Milan superstar vowed to knock Arsenal out of the Champions League.
And his verdict on Wenger's team echoed the taunts of Arsenal's own fans when the Frenchman substituted Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with Andrey Arshavin during the home loss to Manchester United last month.
Arsenal fly out to Milan today to face the Italian giants at the San Siro tomorrow — and Boateng did not mince his words in explaining why Arsenal fail to win trophies.
The midfielder, who spent two years at Spurs from 2007, said: "I'm not scared of Arsenal.
"The problem with Arsenal is one day they play amazing football and then they play really badly.
"In the end they don't have balance. They either play unbelievable football or they don't know what they're doing.
"It comes down to inexperience. Arsenal don't know what you have to do to win titles — they're always close but they break down. All their players are young, of course they're hungry but they don't know how to get this target.
"Without the experience it's difficult — to take the last step, experience is what you need. To win the league or to reach the semi-final or final of the Champions League you need experience.
"There's always something missing at Arsenal.
"That bit is the experience — we have so much of that at Milan and I think that's what they need."
Ironically, the former Tottenham midfielder echoed the demands of many Arsenal fans.
Boateng sat back in the chic cream sofa at the Italian champions' Milanello training ground and added: "These days you must spend money if you really want to have success.
"At the end it doesn't matter if you spend maybe ?ú20million too much — because you're trying to win cups. And if you want to win cups you have to bring in fantastic players.
"Arsenal do have fantastic young players but, of course, if you bring two or three superstars it's a lot different.
"Even the other teams get scared. If you see the opponent has all these big names you say to yourself: 'Oh my GHod, who are we playing against today?'
"They have fantastic young footballers, they play like Barcelona — one-touch football and movement off the ball — but at the end it's always the weakness of inexperience."
So far this has been Arsenal's worst season in the 15 years Wenger has been in charge.
They have recently steadied the ship with two league wins after three losses on the bounce but it is that inconsistency that Boateng believes will prove decisive in their matches with Milan.
He admitted the only concern for the Italian giants is that Arsenal see the Champions League as the way out of the mire and might hit top form tomorrow night.
He added: "The problem when you have teams that are having their worst season is that they just wait for this one game to come out of the bulls**t. For them to win in Milan will get them out of the bulls**t.
"That's what we have to be aware of because there is a team coming with fantastic young footballers.
"OK, they're not having the best time but there's always one game that turns the page over so they're going to try to do everything to win."
Milan have also had a topsy-turvy season but they are currently top of the table — though Juventus have two games in hand and are just two points adrift.
Boateng insisted that crashing out against his old club Tottenham at this stage of the competition last year is enough to motivate Milan's star-studded squad led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.
The seven-time European Cup winners faced current holders Barcelona in the group stage.
After a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp they lost 2-1 at the San Siro but Boateng insisted they showed they can match the Catalan giants and challenge for the trophy this year.
He added: "Of course what happened last year against Tottenham will motivate us.
"We want to prove we are among the best in Europe. The name of Milan is big.
"It's time to show we're still in the top five teams in the world and the Arsenal game comes along at a perfect time.
"When we played Barcelona this season everybody saw we can do battle with them.
"At home both sides had chances to win but they took theirs."
Milan have yet to hit top form this season but their win at Udinese on Saturday allowed them to go top of Serie A and proved they are coming into form at the right time.
Boateng concluded: "We just have to get hungry again and to be aggressive.
"This is the only thing that's important because in terms of the players and the quality we have we can go far.
"I don't want to say we're going to win this or that but with the team we have we can go far."
