How about just ignoring all of them.
Journalists signpost all future transfers way before they happen.

I have no problem with people ignoring the ITKs.

That's not what the people that are complaining about ITKs in this thread are doing though.

I think some of the ITKs have some genuine information, sometimes before the press. Actually journalists are comparable to ITKs in many ways, there are a handful of journalists that I think have decent contacts and if they say something about Spurs targets I read it, but a lot of the stories about Spurs are as fabricated as the worst ITK news around.

Spanish TVE 1 news has just said that Tottenham will accelerate the sale of Modric over the weekend as they have come to an agreement with Bilbao to sign Llorente. Not a wind up.

you know what, I could live with this.

i love Modric but hey, things move on.

I really hope that this is "not a wind up"! [-o<

So 45 odd mill for a unproven youngster is a fair price? hmmm

Define "unproven". Unproven in the Premiership maybe, but as far as Brazilians who have consistently watched him leather goals in for two and half seasons in every competition you put him in, domestic or international, I would guess that they felt he has earnt his price tag.

It might put our noses out of joint, but we should have ponied up a long time ago and we have rather predictably missed the boat. I've said this before on this board, but you have a finite period of time, as a "lesser" club, in which you can grab hold of a rising star before his and his parent clubs expectations go past what you can deliver and promise.

The point is, whilst there is still some risk attached to a player, in terms of "will they, won't they", a team like Spurs can still afford and still attract a player that will potentially be a top talent. If you play a waiting game and try to mitigate that risk, the player is then out of our league.

Interesting. If true then we should be in for Llorente no matter what happens to Modric. This is a player that would bring us back into contention for the CL spots.

Other reports have been saying that Llorente is the target of bids by ourselves, Juventus and Emirates Marketing Project. The report in the Metro says that Llorente is on £1.9m a year which is a wage that we could definitely meet, if the report is true.

I can almost imagine a Palacios/Bellamy style deal of back scratching between ourselves and Emirates Marketing Project in as much as we pull out of the Llorente deal and then they provide us with a value deal of Adebayor. I have no doubt that Emirates Marketing Project's bid would be better than ours for Llorente but they are less likely to want to increase their number of strikers without first selling one, probably Adebayor. And so to have us out of the Llorente deal in exchange for a better deal for Adebayor could potentially suit both parties?

As you say, some ITKs have genuine information. Ignoring the possibility they are insiders, this will be because they know someone who knows something about a particular player or deal. These ITKs will have infrequent information and will only post occasionally.

However, when ITKs claim to have insider information on every deal, both from the Spurs side and the other club, as well as knowing the player's inner thoughts, and set up Q&A sessions, its then that people begin to doubt their credibility. Unfortunately, because they "know" something on everything they swamp the tacoosphere with false information and that from genuine ITKs is lost in the noise.

To most people the objection is not to the genuine ITKs, but to the false ITKs and their cult followings, which effectively block our access to credible ITK information.

This is a good post.

It is if the club don't want to sell.

You have to think his real market value is probably 15-20m but if the club dont want to sell then you have to offer way above market value at times

No you don't!

You walk away from the deal!

No way in the world we should be spunking even £30 million on Leandro - let alone in excess of £40 million.

Well, I was talking about half of the amount... 23.5m for a young striker, roughly 5m higher than we've already bid if reports are true. Like I said, Levy would never pay 47m for an unproven player and rightly so. I didn't see any posts here about the price so my bad if I missed it.

Leeds United have signed forward El Hadji Diouf on non-contract terms, less than 18 months after manager Neil Warnock compared him to a "sewer rat".

Most Madrid fans probably think the same way about Modric.

If we want 40 milllion for Modric, then we've got to be prepared for other teams demanding top dollar for their stars.

Maybe Spurs should be buying some Mexicans rather than Brazilians, pay about a quarter of the price and get 95% of the talent

Buy a job lot and they can walk over to the Lane from there, save on a taxi fare
