must be just our club. if Laudrup was manager of Spurs, you bet your arse we wouldnt be after Mohammed Abdellaoue or de Guzman etc. you could say because we are "better" than that, but you cant say that brick. If Abdellaoue can score goals, who gives a fudge what level he's at.

Lot of truth in that. I wonder at what point in this window Levy/AVB will say 'OK, we've tried to get in a top class CF like Adebayor, Leandro, [whoever else], its now too close to the end of the window and we simply need a CF'

We cant go into the season with just Defoe and Kane so this point has to arrive at some stage

Different countries treat the Olympics differently. We are the extreme end where it doesn't mean much. Argentina, Uruguay and some African countries treat the Olympics much more seriously. Brasil don't seem to but that might because they haven't won it rather than the cause.

The best young players from Brasil and Spain have been in action. Reputations can certainly be enhanced in the view of the football world, regardless of whether we take the event that seriously. I would imagine the managers, even old school British ones, have been watching closely.

You couldnt be further wrong. The olympics are massive for Brazil. Its the only trophy they have never won and they are desperate to win it.

They are also using it as an opportunity to get experience for 2014 WC as they have hardly any competitive action until then

No, still trying to build a stadium

thats no excuse for not strengthening the squad. We could have used the loan market, bosmans, cheap signings. Anyway, didnt Levy say that the stadium build wouldnt impact on squad strengthening?

But it's like we'll go for the same people regardless of manager. I mean weve been after Leandro for over a year now, we were after Adebayor and got him last year, Vertonghen all summer, Sigurdsson before AVB come in. It's like we have set players and if we don't get them, oh well, we'll try again in January or next year. Our scouts must be fudging terrible.

hear hear man. we never seem to unearth a Cisse or a cheap striker. I know its hard but we always go for or are linked with big time players.

Last time we seemed to unearth someone it was Sandro and what a signing he turned out to be. I'd just like us to be thorough with our scouting, see a striker who scores goals for fun regardless of the team he plays for (Cisse played for Freiburg ffs)

yeh true with Sandro but i mean purely striker. You could say Lennon was a steal at 1m of course, and Hudd etc ( I like him now ), Ekotto. But a striker? fcuk we have spent loads Crouch, Defoe, Keane, Rebrov, Berbatov, Bent, Pav, Postiga and never spent 2,3 mil and got a top striker. RVP was 2.5 mil ffs ( i think ) and Adebayor for Arsenal.....meh!

Do you know what I'd take Carroll on loan right now, because the thought of having Kane possibly in the first 11 scares the brick out of me. Sturridge would be a decent addition too, he scores goals. Ade, Carroll, Sturridge and Defoe would make me a hell of a lot happier than Defoe and Kane.

8 days to go til Saudi Sportswashing Machine

or 7 days to sign someone for them to start v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, but then really thats only the case for Ade where he can play straight away as he knows the team

realistically need to sign other players this weekend if they're going to play v Newcaste in order that they can train with the rest of the squad and get to know them next week

It feels as though we're really badly under-prepared going into this season both from a transfer perspective and from match build-up/preparation

he looked good at the Olympics but I remember the last time someone from Senegal looked promising at a tournament (El-Haji Diouf), look how he turned out. I was more impressed by Pape Souare

I'd like to see whether we could get Moses before he signs for Cheatski. they've apparently offered £8.5m - would like to see us offer say £10m. I think he's worth it and worth case it might push their price up or delay the deal.

He's not the out and ot main CF which we need butif AVB wants to go 4-3-3 at some point he's ideal

Souare too

Tournament performance is only important when the selling club demands more on the back of it and a deal becomes unrealistic, and it usually applies to bigger names, bigger prices

but Konate will be cheap, and worth a gamble on. Strong, quick, eye for a goal, only 19, lots to work on there

You mentioned Cisse earlier, why did people not take him seriously? because he was playing for little Frieberg. There will always be reasons not to sign players, but every signing is a gamble. Look at Torres, guaranteed to score goals, proven, world class, worth 50 mill....yeah right:)

It's all about finding the right guys. Konate would be a gamble but he wouldn't be expensive. I mean he could turn out to be a new Cisse or he could end up being a Diouf

Did you really expect anything else from our chairman? Will go until 31st at 11:59pm. He wont learn that we played a 36 game league campaign last year because he tinkled the first 2 games up the wall.

So why did we sign Vertonghen and Sigurdsson early on? Some of you are so fudging miserable and none of us have any idea what is going on behind the scenes. You really believe Levy is doing this on purpose?
