Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Why do you say that? What's your opinion of Cazorla? Is he not that good a player? Or a good player but not what they need?

He's good, but they've signed good players in the past and I haven't been worried. I am more worried about who we are going to sign than really caring about Arsenal. They will always be able to attract players of Cazorla and M'Vila's ability just because of the history, style of football, manager and Champions League football.

Hmmm good points, but unfortunately the better Arsenal or their squad get, the harder it is for us to keep up (in terms of being able to build via top 4 and CL etc)

Let them sign both. For their M'vila, we have Sandro. For their Cazorla, we have Luka M........err.......

...Tom Carroll?

Another smallish creative mid really wouldn't go amiss right now. :p

We can always hope Wenger thinks they're too expensive and decides to stick with his youth.

It's not the first time he's been linked away this summer. Either there's someone out there stupid enough to want blow loads of money on him or his agent is trying to get a payrise from Liverpool.

Rodgers battling to hold on to Skrtel as City, Napoli and Anzi wait in the wings for defender

Seriously?.. City have all the money in the world and they want Skrtel?... joke of an article..

I think they're in the 'affordable' stage of the project now. Having spent the equivalent of a small country's GDP on players, they now want to cut back so it looks like they're playing fair/ abiding by FFP rules. Ergo, Skrtel wouldn't be that bad as a call, provided Liverpool are willing to sell for a relatively reasonable price.

Chelsea went through the same thing a couple of years back, if I recall. Just bought Zhirkov and no one else of note. Then spent a metric ton of cash in January when that backfired and they were struggling.

Chelsea have moved on to the more sensible phase now though imo, buy player who are young.

No point in buying (a squad of) players who are 27-28 because your just going to have to spend huge amounts to replace them after a couple of years.

They did something similar early on in Abramovich's reign, if I recall correctly. Drogba, Ashley and Joe Cole, Essien, Cech, Robben, Diarra....to add to the likes of Terry and Lampard who were already at the club.
