Anyone know if this MKcoys has any kind of a half decent record before I get my hopes up?

I think he knows a few journos and hears things from time to time, can't point to anything he has called right, but this would kind of make sense what with the earlier discussion of how there seems to be no rumblings in the press of Modric's camp trying to engineer the move this summer.

Isnt it just another name for 'assistant manager' but just working with the first team?

From what I understand Kevin Bond was the assistant manager under Redknapp and Joe Jordan was a first team coach. However Redknapp was appointed as a manager while AVB has been appointed as head coach so titles might be different this time around.

Might still see an assistant to AVB come in though.

Villas-Boas has the title Head Coach, while Martins is First Team Coach.
Joe Jordan had the same title as Martins, but I'm unsure whether the title now means second in charge (like Bond) due to AVB being head coach in stead of manager. Heach Coach is in total charge of the FIRST TEAM, in theory he has less to do with the rest of the sporting and other side of the club than a manager does. Martin Jol was also titled Heach Coach, which isn't unusal at clubs that has a Director of Football.

Interesting that the OS lists the players he has worked with as "Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Joao Moutinho". The first two have played in the PL and so you can understand why the OS mentions them as being players who will be familiar to fans. But Joao Moutinho?

Is the OS ITK or something?

I noticed that as well. Has nothing to do with the OS being 'ITK' - the announcement would probably have had to been signed off by Levy before going out and therefore I dont think its an accident that his name is in there

Could just be as simple as Moutinho being a stand out performer at the Euros and so a good example...

The Sporting Lisbon youth system was used as an example by BBC when they were talking to Comolli about scouting and development. It bodes well that Luis Martins was heavily involved in that.

Exactly. So what will AVB do then other than pick the team if he's head coach as he's head coach of the first team?!

Or is it just like joe Jordan and Kevin bond?

Despite what some people try and claim, AVB is not a coach in the purest sense of the word. Can you imagine VDV's reaction if AVB was to tell him that he is striking the ball incorrectly for example?

The Manager doesn't need to be a coach, all he needs to do is have coaches do to the day to day technical coaching and he expresses to his coaches what he wishes to implement. If you like, he is the Project Manager whilst the coaches below him are the technical specialists.

I think that Gallas has been excellent for us and given us experience and a winning mentality that we lacked but I'd be very worried about him playing in a team playing a high defensive line

He wouldn't play much. Vertonghen, Caulker, and Kaboul-we have three healthy, relatively young CBs who will surely be ahead of him in the pecking order. As will Dawson, most likely.

But Gallas would be good cover if we find ourselves in another 'down to bare bones' moment; he can play across the back line, after all. And his experience and spirit in the dressing room are very useful to have around anyway., regardless of whether he plays regularly.

If he was 28 or something and/or a club were offering a ridiculous fee for his services, I could see the logic, but whoever might be interested in Willy probably won't want to pay much for his services considering his age. So it does bemuse me somewhat.

AVB´s problem at Chelsea was the senior players. I think although Gallas is still very good and has 1-2 years more in him, we should get rid. We have Vert, Caulker, Kaboul and Dawson. Maybe invest in one young CB and we have this department covered.

According to the Standard

Sources in Brazil say Chelsea representatives have already met with Internacional president Giovanni Luigi and lodged a £15.8m bid. Their interest will come as a blow to former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, who was named Spurs’ manager last week.

They already have a lot of players for that position.

Plus don't we get first dibs on all their players?
