So, what happened today?

In the spirit of "what happened today" I was just stroking the cut on the top of my head and I remembered that on Tuesday night I went to the loo in a local pub and on the way out of said loo, I smacked my balding head off the doorframe and cut it. In a typically British manner I scuttled out of the pub and shyly felt the top of my head for damage.
It's 2024, I'm only 6'1", is it too much to ask to raise the height of a doorway?
Since I started balding about 6 years ago I've become HUGELY more susceptible to feeling cold i.e. most people have a big furry hat fitted to their head, nowadays I just have a large vent and am cold for 75% of the year.
Secondly I've become much more likely to bash my head. Happens several times per year. Perhaps because hair acts as an early warning trigger to retract ones scalp before whacking it off the door frame. Perhaps because hair used to soften the blow and make the blow glancing and less impactful.
Hairy types will scoff, but one day you will understand.

Oh and on Wednesday I met with my IFA who says my wife and I are now just about wealthy enough to retire if we want to and "should" have enough money to last us until we are 100, if our investments (ISAs and Pensions) grow at 6% each year. So we will keep working for a bit more to ensure we are all cushty, and assuming our investments are still on the up, we are good to retire.

Every silver lining

As someone who has been bald for about 15 years ..

The head cutting thing does happen and I can’t fathom why

I don’t have issues with cold and it’s bloody handy in the summer just being able to go head to toe for sun tan lotion

I thought you were 16.

As mentioned in the Transfer Thread yesterday, I had some serious distraction to cope with while shooting an Indy Car race from a rooftop garden overlooking the front straightaway.

Fortunately, I stayed focused on the job at hand. Most of the time.

I've been in Thailand for a month and have taken more than a few photos of similar 'distractions'.
Thank GHod for the hidden private folder on the phone

I swear sometimes on here it's like I'm being baited in to being judgemental / a killjoy. To quote Jose, "If I speak I am in trouble", I don't want to call out usually decent posters and maybe I'm being a prude in the eyes of some but I can't help but find the above two posts fairly odd. I appreciate that nobody directly asked for my opinion on this but there's my 2 cents nonetheless, people are going to do whatever they want and apparently share it on the internet as well, what a world.

So you close your eyes and turn away? No you don't. But somehow being upfront and honest about it is then supposedly worse than doing it in secret? The picture is totally innocent. No one is being outed, and there's no way of identifying the person.

It's not about whether you are "honest" (reads as posting on an anonymous forum) or not. It's all a bit Donald Trump "locker room talk" but possibly even worse.

Whether someone is identifiable or not isn't really the point either. Are upskirt shots fine because the person isn't identifiable?

Women (everybody really) should be able to wear whatever they want in public without ending up in someone else's private photo folder without consent.

Let's say you've got a daughter who is considered attractive, are you fine with her ending up as an unwilling photographic masturbatory aid for any creepy blokes who happen to be armed with a camera?

There's enough porn online provided by willing adult entertainers, if you don't get a thrill from that because they know they're being recorded then that sounds like something worth investigating / getting help with.

Drove through Liechtenstein in about 30 minutes. How is this a country? It's like 4 villages and a tiny castle. Didn't even realise I'd crossed the border from Switzerland until I was in the middle of the capital. Government building, national art museum and town hall all within throwing distance from the parking garage. The castle was up on a hill above the city, looking down on the peasants.

Mate, you've always seemed a really decent bloke and I enjoy many of your writings.

However - whilst that second photo is incredible, seriously impressive…in my opinion, the creepy one above it, (in the context you shared in the other thread) lets you down.

This is seriously gross.

This is more than gross and just outright fuċking creepy. You sound like a pervert. That you acknowledge the need for a hidden folder means you know that too.

And you sound like you need to chill down, and stop taking absolutely everything literally!

I can't agree about people wearing whatever they like in public, anyone wearing a baseball cap backwards or sideways should be forced to have therapy.

So you were just joking about taking sneaky pictures of women and storing them in a hidden folder on your phone? Seems a pretty weird (and oddly specific) thing to joke about.

I don't take "sneaky" pictures, no. But I do take pictures. A lot of pictures. And if there is something or someone interesting, I take a picture. If I only want to take a picture of the person, I ask them, and usually they're fine with it. In fact, I've only got told no once! Probably because I often look like a professional photographer, with my camera bag and multiple cameras and drone. There are even times when people, usually girls, come and ask me to take pictures of them!

But I keep those pictures private, and don't throw them around in SoMe.

Pretty creepy, huh?
