Savinho

Having seen a fair bit of him pre City, I'd advise not to listen to people who are coming to conclusions based on his stint there. He will do well here where he will be one of the main men, I'm confident of that....

Things change. Players that looked great can go to crap. Look at Dele.

No idea if Savinho will be great or not. Will have a better idea at the end of the season. Same as all our signings.

That is football - you have no idea what any player will do when signing regardless of the past.

My only point is I wouldn't judge him based on his time under Pep and his very specific requirements - I don't believe he was used correctly and I believe he has the skill set we are severely lacking ie a player who can beat a man one on one. Only time will tell but he is the right type of player profile and skillset and we have the right type of manager to utilise it. I'm confident he will do well so let's see....

It's just that he actively stops us getting the balls into and around the box with his elephant touch.😆
Yes this can be put under the 'can be criticised for many things' category :D

We need to upgrade, but at least with an attack minded manager and some quality behind the forwards he will get an adequate amount of goals until that time comes....

this rhetoric is boring and built on media and other supporters.

Pants pulled down. 115m for Anderson? what? 117 for morgan Rogers? what? 50m for Vuskovic?

its not your money. So just get off the idea of it. We need to refresh. we need to take otehr teams good EPL players. all PL players are over priced between teams inside the prem. we just finished 17th twice. We need to prove to players that we can go UP the league. And no other team is going to help us do that.

We should overpay on salaries, not fees. I was never one to moan about not spending enough. More that we didn't spend smart. For example, City are getting Allan from Palmeiras to replace Savinho. Smart might have been for us to get Allan.

In any case, if all our signings improve us, that's fine.
Reports say the Allan fee could be more than the Savinho fee
So you are now arguing we should have spent more for someone you probably never heard of?!

The cost for Sav + Marmoush is about £75m each which is fair when you look at the cost of Ezri Konsa etc

Remember it is much more expensive to sign two poor players than one exceptional player, as you can sell the latter for profit IF you have to

£65M for Savinho and £65M for Marmoush are more than reasonable deals.

Also City can take a punt on a player that has never played in the prem as they have Semenyo, Doku and foden already to play amongst others.

We need some players who are not going to take a season to settle in to life here.

I think it is really good that we are getting players from a really big and successful club who are already earning big money. It would be easy for those players to stay at their current club and be quite likely to pick up medals and trophies. I like the fact that these players want to play, even though they are effectively stepping down to do so.

This.

Every single one of our summer transfers has PL experience. Now consider this with how it took Xavi half a season to get acclimatized to the PL last year which ultimately equates to points lost, and we know now how important every single point is at the end of the season.

If Pep was still there, I think you would definitely be correct with that assumption, but there are a lot of questions around City under Maresca and their style of play in particular.

We are obviously a club on the ascendancy with a manager who seems to be respected a lot more inside the game than the pundits, journalists and general public give credit to.
