Saido Berahino

Pullis is just covering himself. They aren't do that well and have become another anti-football team so he has to deflect the blame as to why he isn't playing his most creative player.Pullis doesn't want him anymore than Jeffers wants to be there.

Modric threw a strop when Chelsea came in for him. Even "went on strike" if I recall correctly. Levy didn't sell and by mid-September he had knuckled down and was finding his form again. He ended up having an incredible season for us. That's what I expect of a professional - I totally understand the initial anger and the stroppiness. But once the window is closed and they literally can't join another club, then a player needs to demonstrate his work ethic. If he doesn't, then I believe that places a question-mark against his general attitude.

The only difference being that Levy made it clear to Modric from day 1 that he would not be sold to Chelsea that summer; and clear gave the player an end point of a transfer the following summer. It would appear from Berahino's initial reaction that he was promised a move and then Pearce reneged on it...

I support the idea of trying to send another bid for Berahino to Peace come January 1st, but for the sake of the argument, Schneiderlin was seemingly promised a move in the summer of 2014 and put on a royal strop when Southampton's board panicked during the exodus and went back on their word. He still played brilliantly last season.

I think the Berahino situation is different. Pulis blatantly wanted to sell him in the Summer, get some cash in, and go on a shopping spree bringing in typical Pulis style war-horses. Probably makes sense from Pulis perspective: why have a nippy player like Berahino when you can have 17 Glen Whelans and Jon Walters'?

But at the end of the day he wasn't going to speak out against his boss, and Peace just wanted to put his own name in lights against the wishes of his manager and the player. The offer was a good one, in no way derogatory, and both Pulis and Berahino wanted the move. Berahino played a blinder for us - even putting in a transfer request and throwing a strop. Now Pulis is stuck with a player he was banking on cashing in on, and Berahino is stuck at a brick club with a manager who doesn't want him, while the squad around him is moulded into new, even more vicious version of Stoke.

I think we should go back in for him. The pressure on Peace to do a deal would be enormous. There is no way we'll come away looking small time, Peace will blatantly be shown up to be cutting off his nose to spite his face in the worst case scenario. Modric's value was never going to decrease in the way Berahino's will absolutely nose dive if his season continues in the same fashion. Peace is bent over his office desk; its time to throw away the lube and complete the job.

As for the player - if he was good enough 6 months ago he is good enough now. There is no telling what sort of boost in mental terms a move to Spurs could give him. He'd be a great back up for Kane; able to play alongside him in a two; and when Kane is playing the lone role Berahino will add more competition in the three spots off Kane. If we have a weakness at the moment its goals from the three behind the striker; Saido would certainly ramp up our goal threat in an instant. He might be (based on evidence) a 15 goal a year man. Add that to the goals of Kane, the emerging Alli plus Son, Eriksen etc and that extra goal threat could really be invaluable to us.

I say go back in for him. At the very least it would be funny to see what Peace would do.

As he wasn't picked when Rondon was suspended you have to assume he will be offloaded in the Jan window. This might drag out until deadline day again .If we are to go in for him and i trust Poch on this one then it needs to be done early or we move onto other targets. We can't be held to ransom by Peace.

Got on the pitch at 70 mins today and was only a sub on Boxing day I think. How his stock must have fallen. Can DL and Pearce sort something out? Might be able to negotiate a bargain deal.

Pulis apparently said he was 'lucky to be on the bench, never mind starting.' I don't know if he's just genuinely being a twunt behind closed doors or whether Pulis and Peace are deliberately sabotaging any chances of him moving in January by ostracising him to this degree. Hell, it's not like any of West Brom's strikers are much better than him, or can score more goals that he can - amusingly, he's still their top scorer with three goals, tied with Rondon and James Morrison but having had fewer minutes to score them than either of those two.

Make it look like they have to sell him so as to limit how much Peace will look a fool when he leaves in Jan

Maybe. It's a transparent ruse, but their fans at large seem to be falling for it - their forum (westbrom.com, I think it's unimaginatively called) has a lot of hate for him right now.

Course they do, he came out of that window looking like a total tit and made WBA look very unprofessional in the process (playing it all out in public) it was all his own doing - and the best thing was he thought he was making himself look good and getting one over Levy/THFC

Pullis then said tonight that the problem had been solved all done and dusted and he had a big smile on his face.Is he just playing with the press or has he maybe been sold.

Reading between the lines, something happened with Berahino midweek. Pulis had said he would play over the festive season - following Rondon's suspension. But he only got sub appearances. Then when interviewed Pulis said something like, "its done, we're moving on" when asked if there was a reason why Berahino didn't start.

So Berahino asserting that he needs to be allowed to leave in Jan (just in my opinion, but watch itks claim some insider knowledge now). Still he could go to United or Chelsea rather than us.
