Richarlison

Ha! He is clearly a decent player, as evidenced by his Prem record and also being a Brasil regular. Only time (and Ange) will tell if he is our main man up front.

I think the Brazil regular stuff is a bit of a red herring. People still have this idea of Brazil being the best team in the world but they haven’t been for 20 years. They’ve gone out in the quarter finals in four of the last five world cups. He doesn’t play for a particularly strong Brazil side but people are still seduced by the Brazil’s number 9 stuff.

Maybe he just needs a bit of luck to get off the mark this season. One thing I’d like to see less of is him being on the floor so much. He’s a big, strong guy and needs to his strength smarter. Could be the refs have his card marked in terms of his theatrics. Kane was adept at buying fouls but the cynic in me thinks he got a lot of those fouls because he’s the England captain as well.

Not convinced by Richarlison so far, but with a new style of play all bets are out the window. Who knows what Ange can bring out in him, new lease of life and all that..!

We should get rid of all our forwards.
We've scored 4 goals, and none of them by our forwards! Ffs, that's scandalous! Get rid!
That's a very good point actually, Richi seems to be taking all the flak but I don't see Kulu and Son pulling up any trees. Richi comes alive inside the area and it's not like there's been a load of chances created for him. It's fair to say the front 3 as a whole can step it up, it's not all on Richi at all....

I don’t think anyone would advocate that Son and Kulu are anything close to top form right now. I thought Son was fine against United, nowhere near his best but pretty good on the whole. Kulu has definitely struggled since he came back from injury and hasn’t hit a good run of form. I don’t think it’s unfair to say Kulu and Son have more of a track record to fall back on than Richarlison. He’ll get more opportunities as we’re not loaded with CF’s but I do think we need someone to replace Kane with or without Richarlison in the side. Goals aside, I do worry about his creativity, he’s more of a battering ram than a forward with guile.

They haven't been great or even good but they have still been better than Richy. Tbh the entire front 3 is a little concerning, with the system needs.

Son just isn't suited to sticking so far out wide. The width of the penalty area is his sweet spot, get him and around that space and let's see if last season was a blip or not.

With Kulu I think he's slowly working himself back into confidence. He's actually doing the right things, he's just not executing very well but the right intention is there which does give hope that he will come good.

Didn't son complain that last season he was too central and liked to come in off the left? When he scored i think it was. Don't see why he can't still do that and crack off a shot now and again?

I can't find the quotes but I believe Son was saying Conte wanted him central, with his back to goal and to shoot less. Definitely not the way I'd advocate for him to play. Assuming he's playing off the left i'd encourage him to cut in and shoot. It's what he does best and what has worked for the majority of his time here.

What I wouldn't really ask him to do is keep the width and cross balls in. That's deffo not a strength of his. The first games against Brentford he seemed to keep more width whereas against United it was a bit more like old Son with playing more along the width of the both and getting involved in the box itself. Especially with his goal bound shot that Shaw blocked.

Agree and would say the same to Kulu on the right. Not sure but it seems Ange wants them to shoot in the box whereas we've seen both Son and Kulu shoot from just outside . Still early days and I think the players are still getting used to each other.

I agree. I think Son is warming into the role Ange is asking of him. There was quite a difference in where he took up space between the first two matches with the latter being one where he started getting a few Son esque chances/moments.

I think Son will work in this system. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a goal in the next match. It feels like his form is improving.

I think it’s just circumstance that compared to previous seasons, we are closer to their goals

Thought he was unlucky today. The big chance he was prob correct to bring it back inside just didn’t fall for him.

tripping on the ball wasn’t the greatest pass to him.

However, would like to see an improved attitude and less feeling sorry for himself. Just get up and get on with it.

He just needs one to fall his way. Keep backing him.

He needs an arm round him, he is clearly in a bad spot, like you say also needs one to fall for him.

I don't think the OTT reactions to all he does wrong helps, its clear some is weighted by Kanes exit

What I find interesting is people who are saying "lets not get carried away about Ange" are the same ones who make definitive assessments on who and who are not going to make it, you can't have it all ways, bloke needs to be backed, like him or not he is a Spurs player

Just to bring out a very clear point - the moment he tried to foul the Bournemouth player when he had lost the ball, which may have resulted in a red card - that was it for me. He is not a kid, he is not a teenager - he is 26 years old if I am not mistaken. He needs to grow up. Till then I am very much in favour of either loaning him out or selling him. That act was a very selfish act and would have let the entire team down.

Just needs that first goal and then I think he will be a major player for us.

I'm up in Liverpool and a few Everton fans cannot understand why he has been in such poor form ... they would have him back in a heartbeat

Shame they can't afford him. He suits a fiesty northern team battling relegation who are happy with a few league goals in April and May, if they stay up.
