Politics, politics, politics

i'm not happy with the shift in tory thinking, say what you like about Cameron but his policies put the economy front and centre, May is chasing the cheap votes, and they are as cheap as you can get

we are in trouble
Most of what was said at conference is genuinely beyond anything I thought I'd ever hear.

Lists of foreign worker numbers, army classes in schools, punitive actions on foreign workers and students aimed at the people rather than the system and to top it off...... we are leaving the EU, so we must "work hard to make freedom work".....hhmmmm

7 years I'll give it until the working time directive is gone, along with decent annual leave and sickness rights - you can't compete with US and China in productivity terms unless you "work as hard"

This was my argument throughout - EU is not perfect vast majority of decent laws for the working class have come through it. Clean beaches, Clean air , decent working hours, decent access for disabled.... thank the EU. counter argument was we could have brought these laws in anyway -but we didn't and we wouldn't. this is the Red Tape that we want to cut.

No real choises at the moment thanks to Corbyn. I'll take Teressa over Jeremy's Labour!

it's a frightening jump

And there are a lot of folks ( including children) living on the streets being fed by charity's because of economics.
No.....by poor economic management, usually driven by the actions (or inactions) of politicians with vested interests.

The EU is nowhere near perfect, but if you think this Tory Govt is going to improve the situation you describe then you are in a very unpleasant awakening unfortunately

I am no Tory mate i can assure you of that, Democracy brought about the vote to leave a busted flush ( the EU) and people voted because they had enough of the way things were under the economy of the time.

Depends if you want to go over the edge 'Butch Cassidy style' with Jeremy or Terresa.

I'm no Tory, but Mrs May is 'talking' some sense, we will now see if she walks the walk. There is now no credible opposition.

Old Bojo looked well tinkled off yesterday, that was good to see.

"the economy of the time" - you mean now?
And any future economic effects will be driven by the Government....for the next four years that is this Tory Govt, a Govt with a reputation for shaping economic policy for gains for a minority......so no Economics *doesn't* create inequality, *Politics* does, and the UK voted for the Tories and voted to empower the Tories to dictate and stylise the UK outside of the EU

Which bits do you think are sense? ( Not a leading question - genuinely interested)

I went to grammar school and think it is an interesting option if handled correctly.
Moving away from the uber 'Osborne' austerity, without throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Ending reassessments for those with health conditions they won’t get better.

But her biggest upside for me is not being Jeremy 'Citizen Smith' Corbyn.

Down side - she hasn't sacked Jeremy Hunt, Boris Johnson and Liam Fox yet, but it's early days.

These are not the only things but thats off the top of my head.
Im not enamoured with everything by a long way, but I doubt I ever will be.
