The actual use of Passenger flights for freight increased in Covid.
That might be a bit much - you have to allow voters to choose. It should trigger a by-election certainly. And probably come with a ban (lengthy, maybe permanent) from holding any serious office.

I think ethics is the largest stumbling block to decent politics these days, to many either slipping the net or not being dealt with in a fashion that clearly puts off dodgy dealings in the future.

That's also pay related though.
MPs get paid a pittance and can lose their job overnight. They have to have somewhere to land.

The job may pay a pittance, not sure I agree but that's a discussion for another time, but there's no way the majority of the MPs could pick up or hold onto a job with a salary like that in the real world.

I think that would be silly.
We get another pandemic, or an official war, and it would throw the country into chaos.
Then don't make promises that they can't keep.
It's not what they do that's the issue, it's what they promise to a gullible electorate.

The entire economic foundation could change for reasons outside the government’s control.
To trigger an election on something like number of teachers hired or new houses built would be churlish.
Surely if the landscape changes significantly, then an election wouldn't be out of order.
Imagine if Labour had won the election in 2008. We'd currently be asking Argentina for handouts.

It would just lead to even woolier documents. "We will endeavour to move in the direction of phasing out fossil fuels". "Our ambition will be to increase the proportion of health expenditure direct towards social prescribing" etc.

MPs and their families should definitely be banned from being landlords. That's a major conflict of interest in any housing reform or social inequality matter.
