Seeing as I don't rate him, for balance, he was very good yesterday
his delivery in the box was 1 in 5 at best. lots of floaters that found no one instead of accurate flat pinged crossesSeeing as I don't rate him, for balance, he was very good yesterday
Had a very good game, showed again under RDZ the player he is.

He's OK but I think we could upgrade him, his crossing and general attacking play has got worse and he's never been that good at actual defending. One of the people I think we need to be ruthless with and sell - I think Spence is good enough to start and we'll obviously need another back up. Ideally someone who is a bit more experienced. I wonder if Walker might fancy coming back.
i don't think he had a good game. especially under rdz - his crosses are floaters that are easily read by defenders and he isn't as attack minded like djed is going forward, especially in 1 v 1s.Had a very good game, showed again under RDZ the player he is.
Spence is not a better player than Porro, not even close
Not having a go at you, but really don't understand not rating the guy, he's not a defensive FB but he's levels above any of our other FBs and if we wanted to sell him, he'd be one of the few players that would go to a better club.
Is he more like Trent who's good going forwards but can't defend? That's how I see him and I think first and foremost fbs do need to defend and lets not forget he's been first choice RB in a team that finished 17th 2 seasons in a row. We cant keep saying these players are good enough because they're not and if we can get a decent fee then we should take it.
Spence is a different kind of full back but I'd be comfortable with him being first choice, he's good enough and we don't have Europe either. I'd take someone like Walker as a back up - would be a great player for Spence to learn from.

If he has a good world cup we will probably get £40m for him, i’d take that.Included in the Spain squad for the World Cup. I thought he was our best outfield player yesterday, but at the same time I feel he cannot always be relied upon defensively. Difficult to say what his future with us will be. I hope he stays, and plays like he did yesterday when it mattered, but I also believe Spence is the better defender, and has a higher ceiling at RB. The fate of Porro this summer may well tell us a lot about how serious ENIC/De Zerbi are when it comes to an overhaul.

Ok not sure what you mean by better player. Is Spence better offensively? It's debatable, Spence is better on the ball in terms of attacking and beating the opposition defender. He's more secure in the ball and can genuinely dribble something Porro cannot do. Porro has the advantage in crossing and long distance passing. Their combinational play seems fairly similar and I couldn't really swperate them in that regard.Spence is not a better player than Porro, not even close

Very good post, I agree with everything you say.Ok not sure what you mean by better player. Is Spence better offensively? Defensively Spence is leagues better even if he himself is not perfect. 1 on 1 defending isn't even close Porro is regularly beaten by his winger especially if they cut in in his right foot. It's very predictable you know it's going to happen. The great save Kinsky made at the end of the game was yet another example. He also regularly leaves his man spare at the far post offering a free chance at a shot or pass back across goal. We consistently concede from these movements when Porro has left his man in free space.
I don't think Spence is by any means fauless, it's arguably that he leaves his man in too much space but at he has both the pace to catch them, the strength to jockey then and most importantly the defensive instincts to actually stop them progressing with the ball. Something Porro often fails to do.
Now sure if you rate offensive contributions from a FB more than you do the defensive even though the defensive lapses cost you more in the long term then maybe I can see a preference for Porro but as I'll always say, I like my defenders to be able to defend and Porro has failed at that under every manager who has had the Tottenham job in his time here.
You're right his mentality is fantastic and I have credited him with that in past comments on him (just missed it in this one).Very good post, I agree with everything you say.
I think the one thing that you don't mention here in favour of Porro is his mentality, which is always top-notch. Someone else said - maybe on the Game is about Glory pod or on here - that Porro would be someone to build a relegation-threatened side around, someone for RDZ to rely on in the difficult weeks that are now behind us (just like Richi). I think Porro showed that yesterday, from start to finish.
