Pedro Porro

How many games did out tiny squad play in the 80-81 season again, across the league, League, League cup, FA cup and UEFA Cup? By the reckoning of some on here, they should have all been in wheelchairs for the next 12 months!

We weren't in the UEFA Cup in 80-81, but played 42 league games, 9 FA Cup games and 6 League Cups, making a total of 57.

So far they've played 32 games this season.

Edit: You may be thinking of the 81-82 season when we play 42 league, 7 FA Cup, 8 League Cup and 8 Cup Winners Cup games.

I forgot we played Angeball that season.
1985-86, we could have won anything and everything, and ended up with nothing, due to burnout.

He drove me nuts once in the second half, just had to drive a the ball across goal, where we had 2 players - defenders were close to goal too but there was every chance of a goal or own goal.....instead he whacked it against the side netting. I knew then we would lose the game..

Agreed, Gray was stood waiting for the tap in, and rightly chastised Porro.
AND it was the second time Porro had blasted into the side netting in one game.

Excellent player. Good defender. Not at all the problem. But it's a problem that he's playing despite fatigue for so long. Makes him a worse player, rather obviously.

Here's a question for you though.

Why did Porro play such a perfect ball for the goal, but missed the right opportunity to cross the ball almost every other time in the game? Why did he turn down the "right time" so many other times when he has this ability? Trent would have made so much more of the positions he found himself in.

Fatigue, lack of nurturing, manager tactics etc etc????

I was incredibly frustrated with Pedro for most of that game, and plenty of others. Reminds me of Poch times with Walker and Rose checking and passing backwards and sideways. That drove me crazy as well.

I think fatigue. Mental. Blips in concentration. Happened defensively too. Had Spence made it, I think Porro would've been on the bench.

Him and Bents passing for the goals....don't know what they are thinking
The goals hurt and because we were in transition Leicester had a very good chance of scoring. Even worse was the immediate defending when the ball was lost. Porro may be fatigue. Bentancur - I don't know what happened. He didn't seem positionally disciplined.

I wonder if it was just lack of match rhythm on his part? I mean, the initial 'challenge' just after HT out by the touchline was needless, silly and even borderline wreckless. He seems to produce moments like that more frequently. It's a worry.

Not a defender, every coach in England can see the obvious hole behind him and the weak man on man defending.

You really don't think his position is orders?

He's been asked to push up, there is no midfield cover but the space you call out is in many areas of the park.

The setup is too easy to play against.

I can't judge any player in this team because the tactics are brick

He is a wing back (possibly winger) not a defender, a defender actually needs to be able to defend, even in the few occasion when he is actually in place to defend, opposing wingers just walks past him 9 times out of 10.

I don't think it is. Yes he is asked to get forward but he has licence to be better aware. Spence has come in and looks miles more better defensively and you would think he has same orders?

Porro is not a good RB. Its clear as day, defensively he is a liability

not a great defender, but he's been set up to fail by the 'tactics' or 'system' of this chancer in charge.

Spence needs to be our RB from now.
