Pedro Porro

Johnson the guy directly in front of him rarely ever gets involved defensively. Porro mostly defends by himself or supported by Romero which often then means Romero has vacated the middle.

I imagine Ange wants Johnson upfield to run rather than deeper, no real point playing to him if he's not in space. It does leave our right side fairly open when you add Porro's naivety at times.
Yep
Ange wants Johnson up there for sure
He expects the midfield to cover and they didn’t do any of that today

Udogie has no player challenging him for start it’s what brought the best out of rose and Davies
Well, we still have Davies? If lack of motivation/discipline is what holds a youngster back (not saying it is, but if), then start Davies. At least we know what we get and what we don't with him.

Davies will be worse. He's another player that can't play out wide anymore. He will get destroyed any average PL winger right now.

I am not Davies' biggest fan, but I believe that he still can do a job as LB in a back four. As an effective WB no, but then again he never has.

Don’t think it’s that
I think it’s his age, fitness and the way we’re managing him

Could be and hopefully it's fixable, he was a revelation when he started out - for his age of course. And in a position we really need to get nailed down.

Every game he's played at LB in recent years he's been absolutely terrorised. Trust me, we don't want him at LB right now. Maybe Spence should get the chance or even Region but Davies will get roasted.
Has he? Not saying you're wrong, but I cannot recall him losing it too often unless he ventures too far forward. Which he should be prohibited to do, his goal notwithstanding. He has no pace to recover to get back on the right side of things and has learned crossing at Eriksen's school of corners, but he reads the game well and does rarely if ever employ "creative defending".

Johnson's job under Ange is to defend against his direct opponent (i.e. the opposing left back). He comes back to defend when the opposing fullback pushes up. If the opposing wide forward cuts back and opposing full back continues to push on ahead of him then Porro will pass the opposing winger onto Johnson and defend against their fullback.

Thought he was shocking defensively today. He’s so poor on the basics of defending and it looked today like Palace were targeting him second half. He’s very good on the ball to be fair, that pass to Richy was exquisite but as a defender…good Lord he’s very poor.

Can not d isagree with the fact he seems to be stuggling at the moment but his is still young [22 today i believe] and he has shown a lot of good things since he broke into the team. He has talent [ we have all seen it] but as you say he is struggling at the moment. There is a good [ very good] player in him and i think we sometimes expect too much from young players at times.

25 I think.

He was overloaded. Not sure we can pin too much on him for the loss. Momentum shifted he took the brunt.

He is a converted midfielder

It doesn't help that him and Johnson have absolutely no relationship down that side. They don't combine at all. Johnson doesn't help and double up. Kulu and Porro was a much stronger combo.
But Kulu is a comolete liability on the right.

He is just awful there. He is not an option.

He had no help from Johnson.

Johnson is a lazy f*cker. Rarely see him bust a gut to get back and is invisible for most of the game.

Rather play reg to be honest.

Faster and possibly a better ball player.

We have to make use of the players we have got.

Not just let them rot then let them walk away on the free.
