Other Premier League Matches Thread

All of a sudden our 4-0 implosion doesn't look so bad. On the other hand it does make our attacking threat look terrible given that we couldn't manage a single goal against Arsenal

Thats the difference, AFC were poor last week too, CFC can finish we cant

Take out that ridiculous wonder shot from Rosicky last week and we could still be in the race against Arsenal. So infuriating.

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with
the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following into
consideration:
• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an
infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing, shinguard, etc.)
counts as an infringement
• hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard, etc.) counts as an
infringement

There are circumstances when a caution for unsporting behaviour is required
when a player deliberately handles the ball, e.g. when a player:
• deliberately handles the ball to prevent an opponent gaining possession
• attempts to score a goal by deliberately handling the ball
A player is sent off, however, if he prevents a goal or an obvious goalscoring
opportunity by deliberately handling the ball. This punishment arises not from
the act of the player deliberately handling the ball but from the unacceptable
and unfair intervention that prevented a goal being scored.

So the answer is no then? He hasn't prevented a goal or obvious goalscoring opportunity. Marriner/Lino probably concluded it was going in.

Here can someone tell me the point of physios wearing surgical gloves on the bench?
I see the arsenal physio with both hands on his face. The gloves must be filthy by now surely?

If they get the red rescinded does that mean neither player will serve a suspension?

He has to conclude its going in by default.
The ref cant be making judgement calls on shot directions real time mid match.
And Chamberlain concluded it was going in or else he would never have handled it.

Minutes to score 4 past Arsenal:

Liverpool: 20 minutes
Chelsea: 42 minutes
Emirates Marketing Project: 66 minutes

Arsenal may get that card changed. In November, Preston of League One had the wrong man sent off against Port Vale - retrospectively, striker Joe Garner was suspended for three games despite midfielder Neil Kilkenny being shown the red card during the match.

It's to prevent the physio getting contaminated by the player's blood, not the other way around.
