***OMT - Tottenham vs Galatasaray***

I’ve got no problem at all with the team selection. I do think it was naive to go to one of the most hostile away grounds in Europe, with a team made up mostly of teenagers and 2nd XI players, and set out to play the way that we always want to. We only really made an adjustment when forced into it having gone down to 10 men…and, hey presto, we have our best spell of the game.

It’s not a disaster tonight - but I worry that it shows again a lack of pragmatism from Ange which could bite us further into cup competitions, when sometimes it’s just about riding out difficult periods in a game with minimal risks taken.

That said, with our first team out, I do think we would have beaten them.
He will prioritise games when he needs too imo
It’s how he wins trophies
Today was not a game to prioritise over Sunday because we done a lot of hard work previously
That’s great management and something you can do because of the new format

The problem is not about prioritising games. I not fussed if we lose.

The problem is, and has been far to often is that we look like so fecking clueless and chaotic like we have never been coached before.

This is a serious problem, something we just can't not ignore. It's just the B-team, it the first team, Palace, Brighton...

Wouldnt it have been better to go much weaker though? Send a full academy team and have none of the Ipswich squad travel?

I disagree. You play the board in front of you.

How do we get a result today.

Learn the systems (and it absolutely has to be plural) in training, use the best fit in the games.
Normal 'Angeball' executed well would have mullered them tonight. They were nothing special and open at the back, but we couldn't string two passes together! As others have mentioned, the line up wasn't the issue, It's the shocking fact that after a year or so of training under Ange and the coaches, most of these squad players still can't play the way Ange wants.

The loss is no big deal in isolation but the performance and lack of cohesion was worrying

It was a free hit
We need 4 points to qualify without an extra couple of games
We will be fine
Today was as hard as it gets considering we had a lot of players out

Simulations suggest 16 points is required to guarantee top 8.
We need 2 wins and a draw from the last 4 games. Not much wiggle room left.

Wrong attitude... It was another game, to create a fear of playing us for future opposition.

One of the biggest weapons weapons the best teams have, is the war of psychology and a fear of playing them.

We have embarrassed ourselves and other teams will take a lot of positives from this.

It is seriously worrying... (blah blah blah)

Seems to me that Maddison is a common factor, and that his poor form might have more to do with it than poor coaching or Ange's lack of pragmatism. Throw in a young Bergvall who was apparently poor, and hey presto, a malfunctioning midfield. Ange's priorities were resting as many first team players as he possibly could, knowing that we didn't need to win. Not his fault if Madders is starting to resemble a show-pony.

It was the entire team if being honest.

  • If you're suggesting that cluelessness is an issue, check out the team. If not, ignore this post. After you've read it. So forget this post after you've read it.

  • Just had knee surgery so I might be a bit anesthetic tipsy.

The best teams don’t play a funk team when they an injury crisis
We haven’t embarrassed anyone and the fact that with 10 men we should have got a draw shows the opposite
And yeah we could have many goals down

I'm all for rotation/resting when you can get away with it, tonight is absolutely one of those nights.

I think the last month or so has proven that our midfield 3 should always contain 2 deeper/more defensive players.

I wouldn't ever want to see Maddison and Bergvall together in a league game. Not at their current levels.

Pitch wasn't perfect, but certainly not bad! I'd be extremly happy to play on such a pitch. SHould be absolutely no problem playing football there. Galatasaray managed it! Poor excuse!
It was two guys on UK radio
Wouldn’t be shocked if they were watching on tv TBF

Exactly.
Lucas is learning. He learned a lot today. I think a loan might serve him well. Biss was exceptional today - this is the night he won my trust.
Maddison?
Another weak and (IMO) somewhat timid performance. He did not show in the match, he did not lead, he did not show the personality to get on the ball and draw fouls if nothing else, and he is lacking in transitions. You saw it early, he passes to Lankshear around the halfway line, Lankshear backheels a ball into the space I certainly thought Maddison was moving to, except he was standing still! And defensively, just not enough (albeit that isn't him). He needs upgrading and I am glad Ange continues to learn that he cannot be trusted.

Felt sorry for Radu. Play to his strengths why don't we instead of pinging balls across the box when he has two class strikers ontop of him? As for Forster, he dives in slow motion FFS!

Huge credit Gray for hanging in on a tough night.
Overall many positives in the learning curve.

P.S. first yellow on Will was gonads!

And of those two, there is one who should be dominating!!!!
