OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs PSG

S'ok - a much better showing than expected, but ultimately the energy ran out and their superior quality showed. At the end they were passing it around with ease and we were just scrambling to get it somewhere, anywhere.

With the personnel we had, that wasn't surprising. We lacked midfielders who could keep the ball moving, and forwards who could hold it up. Rich and Kudus did that well, Solanke clearly rusty, Tel....not great.

Take the positives and move on.

Gutting to lose that - i was proper giddy at 2 nil as well 😂

But, we didn't embarrass ourselves as I'm sure most of us were half expecting and looked good in many parts of our game so can take a bit of hope in to the season that we're moving in the right direction
This, I think we all feared the worst
What a template for the season though
We could do alright under Frank

Just shows we lack attacking threat in top top European games

Loss of Kane and Son goals almost irreplaceable and Eriksen or Ali

Also at this level getting done by not closing down and smart play by oppo we aren't watching

Richi, Dom, Tel and our midfield better find goals and sharpish, we can't rely on just our defenders

don't think anyone does. guy loves pointing and shouting at his teammates, makes the occasional great save it's true but really he is not up to the goalkeeping standard we'd all expect as Spurs fans.

He was the cheap option over Raya. It shows.

Doesn't mean he's bad - I think he's a perfectly serviceable keeper. But that's about the extent of it - he's not a Lloris, or even a Gomes with the ability to make wonder saves out of nowhere. He's a slightly shakier Friedel, able to make better saves but worse at commanding his box.

Good game in 75min then we did not have the energy. Tel and Solanke dont bring anything to the Club. No other Club in the world has lost more games when they are 2-0 up than tottenham…
We didn't lose the game we drew it. Tel is a kid and Solanke is barely fit. Stop knee jerking.

Shame for Tel but christ the drop off from Kudus to him. Could have just put that 30m towards Savinho/Eze.

Nice to see a strong spine now with Palinha and Bentancur in front of Romero and VDV.
I don't want to dig into him but I really didn't want to sign him and now you think hmm that money could have been saved towards a better player.

A game like this it didn't really matter but we are still lacking quite a bit in the final third and against a lower quality team I think we will struggle to really create chances and get goals so we need to add actual quality asap.

Lets not be negative, we dominated the game for 75 minutes and then fatigue kicked in. We pressed hard and they didn’t and they had more energy in the end. They may not have had a pre season but the way we press worked in their favour. The changes were needed in a fitness sense but not in a tactical sense. We fully deserved to win that and there are lots of positives to take away.

A combination of these things, less so bad tactics. Frank played the hand he had, we don't have another Palhinha, Kudus, or Sarr. So he did what he could with what he had.
He’d clearly instructed Solanke and Tel to not cross the halfway line. That invited relentless pressure. Of course, viewing tactics through the benefit of hindsight is incredibly harsh and he’ll look a genius if we do hold out. This game will be barely a footnote in our season so hopefully there are better days (results wise) ahead.

Tactically Frank was outstanding, they were always going to have a period. We were better than them for 75 mins and then their class told. What if they were better for 75 mins and we spawned a draw, its such a harsh game at time.

Lets not over think it, we all know why it happened.

I don't rate Tel much, but I can't even be harsh on him, we have paid 35m for him so he is the future to some extent so I ain;'t gonna hate on him for being against one of the best 3 sides in Europe

Imagine spurs fans taking the positive

That was a really awful way to lose. We were absolutely superb for most of the game. I have to say though that Solanke and Tel offered nothing whatsoever after coming on and that was a big part in us losing our control of the game. Everyone looked tired, to be fair, but you expect your subs to inject something. Gary and Bergvall didn’t do a great deal either but I’m not sure they were as ineffective as the two forward subs.

Got to try to remain positive: lots of fantastic performances from our players and we didn’t actually lose - it was a draw! Against a top, top side.

New thing to say but the game turned when richi went off. We no longer had an outlet and they just piled on. Pens are pens, you win some you lose some. Good start, gutted for Frank that we didn't get him a trophy first game out, it's hard to win stuff and to get that tonight would be worth so much more to him than to PSG.
