***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea

Read a lot of people saying very positive things about spurs and how we'll have our day. If that's true, I can stomach tonight. Would love to know what it feels like to be premier league champions one day

I do fear a lot of goodwill for us has been somewhat eroded tonight. Perhaps not as much as could be though, as Chelski are involved

i think the second half showed we needed another striker with different qualities to Kane second half. Imagine being able to bring on a pacy and decently strong striker like Michy Batshuayi to push them back and run the channels like Kane did at times. More room for Eriksen and Lamela in that scenario as well.
Even Danny Welbeck would have helped:mad:

I agree, although at the end of the day, can't be bothered too much about what neutrals think.

The eyes of the world were upon us tonight. The story of the first half was physical resilience and two beautiful silky goals, and that would have been a fitting end.

Unfortunately, the second deteriorated into cheap shots, some desperate late tackles, and a complete loss of discipline. Rather than our goals, the lasting images will likely be Dembele's half-hearted eye gouge and Lamela trodding on Fabregas' hand.

Very uncharacteristic, and not what the takeaway should have been for so many who were watching. Especially a week after golden boy Alli got tossed for hotheadedness the day he got his Young PFA award.

If we end up staying as 2nd, i think i might not care........much.....

I don't care at all. We have been soft touches at times for too long and whilst some elements of tonight were unsavoury to say the least, we weren't the only protagonists out there. Chelsea were whining and surrounding the ref at every opportunity as well as leaving a foot in when it suited.

It told me one thing above anything else and that is that the players are together and aren't going to be collectively bullied by anyone.

We looked so lackadaisical second half.So languid.
Is the tough training/pressing catching up with them?

Three defenders on yellows, no Chelski on yellows at that time, Hazard coming on, a couple of early fouls missed again by the ref, two fouls in the box missed for their first goal, I think it was on the cards as Clattenberg failed to control the game.

I've loved the fact that we have been tougher and been a bit more bastardy this season but I think that we over stepped the mark tonight.

In fairness, referees need to protect the game.
He has made it clear early-doors that two players, Walker and Ivanovich, are on warnings for yellows. Ivanovich cleans out Eriksen. Nothing. Costa elbows Vertonghen. Nothing. Mikel early elbow. Nothing. Walker, next challenge = yellow. And the pattern continued. How did Costa get off the itch at HT without a yellow at least? How did Ivanovich last the match? And how did Fabregas get away with any of his disgraceful behavior? I think what we learnt tonight is that this side will defend itself if no-one else will, and for that, I am proud. Yes, it was over the mark but the whole match was and tacotenberg set that bar. I know we shouldn't be reduced to knuckle-dragging, but if we hadn't have fought, we'd have lost that due to being beaten back into our shells by the cheating and dirty foul play. I have to say, when Dier went through Hazard at the end I was actually delighted. fudge him and fudge that entire bricky side. If only Mason had been more composed we'd won the match and the fight. I hope tacotenberg's lack of performance is noted and that he gets a demotion.

Really? So Huths hair pulling and fore arm smashes are ok? Vardys dives, drinkwaters and Simpsons constant fouling are a turn off to me.
I understand you point, it works for them, and in a dig fight at the bottom it's acceptable, but it's not at the top of the table. Ultimately that's the officials fault for turning a blind eye to eye it, but it doesn't make them any more worthy winners in my eyes.

But they didn't win it in the manner you're suggesting.

You're suggesting they won it like a Pulis Stoke of old, or better yet, a Don Revie Leeds.

They didn't win it like that. They won it because they saw out the sort of games we should have.

I had a bet on the draw in this game, the irony of lineker being the player who last won a game for us there and his connection etc, but what pains me here how we capitulated against a very average chelsea side, this is why leicester are deserved champions and we're not, "sexy" came out tonight like it did last week. I'm surprised people haven;'t made more over the substitution of mason over Son, would son have stuck that chance away. Its typical that Hazard reserves his ONLY performance of any note this season playing us but you don't let 2-0 leads slip if you're going to win titles.
What I LOVED was our entire starting 11 getting cards, I loved them putting the foot into them, nice guys finish last, like others have said, we need to employ more of the dark arts to intimidate players, so much of sport is mental, teams used to go to OLD trafford beaten before they got onto the pitch.
Still, great season and we didn't concede the league tonite, I can't wait to hear the Champions league anthem at WHL next season, we can win the league next year ;)

Chelsea were out to hurt us mentally and physically and they did exactly that. I don't mind a little physicality in game, but yesterday was the time to keep cool heads and that is something we failed at. We got dragged into their game and blew it.

Still, 2nd place would also be great.
