OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Richmond/Crystal Palace - Sunday 27th October 14:00 ***

calm down mate, nobody's talking about 'massive knock to Moore's development' it's more (boom!) about managing a young body versus the specific conditions of certain games. Deserving the start or not, I would rather be protecting both him and us. He was not the right choice to start today IF you're playing a midfield with only one ball winner/carrier. Palace are physical and they were always saying they would be. Allow the game to slug out and make that change on 70 minutes.

You mention Yamal. One, I'd suggest that the quaity of touch and possession around Yamal are infinitely better than what we have consistently right now (how many of our passes and touches were again 'off' today?)...secondly...

Why did we need to protect him today? It was his first start which he deserved btw. It’s not like we have been overusing him. He has mainly been getting minutes off the bench and we didn’t have an abundance of options today. It’s not like we were playing Pulis’s Stoke who would have kicked him off the pitch. In an ideal world, Son would have been available today and would have got the start. We didn’t have Son, we didn’t have Odobert. It was Moore, Richarlison out of position or a woefully out of form Werner (when was his last goal out of interest?). I’m fine with Moore getting the opportunity today.

As for Yamal, I think burnout is a very real threat to nearly every top level footballer with the number of games and tournaments. I don’t think that applies to Moore at this moment in time, I was just pointing out if he’s good enough then why not play him.

He did deserve the start today.

He didn't deserve the rest of the shyte he was playing with.

And therin lies the job of the manager. Dont expose young talent in a game which will be a slugfest if the players around them are not going to be able to win battles and be crisp/efficient on the ball. He got maybe three decent passes the whole fits-half and made the right decision/weight of pass with all of them. He received numerous half-arsed attempts to find him. With a game like that, it needs to be sharp.

Fantastic.
I disagree with you and your subsequent points above.

Dunno if its been mentioned here already but has anyone discussed how we had two strikers on for the last half an hour and decided we were just gonna start pinging through balls in front of them to run on to yet.... 1) Solanke and Richarlison are both slow and 2) Palace have rapid CBs!

It was mind blowingly stupid stuff. We should have just been telling them to stay central and then trying to get balls crossed into them!

I'll say again until someone agrees or disagrees with me. It's been 4 good performances from 13 in all competitions since the start of the season

I didn’t think we were playing balls into them as you describe
Where we went wrong
And it’s not hindsight
Was we should have started with a more physical line to literally beat them before going for the attentives
Instead we started with a weak line that only matched then in body count

Also. We keep being told that the easy way to beat Spurs is not press them and sit back and wait for your chances to counter etc and yet today Palace pressed us high up and we coughed up possession a record number of times! Awful performance all round today

Watch the 2nd half back. It was like an under 11s match with through ball after through ball where the ball just went in the direction of Solanke and Richarlison and they had no hope of getting to them. Other teams do it to us quite well but we can't play like that without Son

I mean the cup competitions have seen heavily rotated sides, we rarely if ever play well when doing that so those 4 games are by the by.

In the league it has been a mixed bag from the 9 games, Palace the only real bad performance imv, but Brighton 2nd half was tinkle poor too.

What is worrying is the trend developing there. 135 minutes of poor away Premier League football. It feels a bit like when we smashed Villa last season 4-0 and then went on 'that' away run. See Man U as this season's Villa result. Here's hoping it ain't so!

Think they said its only 3 PL away wins in 2024 during the game!
