OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Richmond/Crystal Palace - Sunday 27th October 14:00 ***

Watch the 2nd half back. It was like an under 11s match with through ball after through ball where the ball just went in the direction of Solanke and Richarlison and they had no hope of getting to them. Other teams do it to us quite well but we can't play like that without Son
Can't pay like that with Son.

Yes he gets goals and assists, but most of the time he is non existent in games.

He gets a goal and everyone forget the precious little else he does.

What is worrying is the trend developing there. 135 minutes of poor away Premier League football. It feels a bit like when we smashed Villa last season 4-0 and then went on 'that' away run. See Man U as this season's Villa result. Here's hoping it ain't so!

I think our away form is maybe indicative of the managers lack of pragmatism - im wondering whether he takes much notice of who we are matched up against game to game versus trying to put out a team he thinks can best play 'our way', with the idea being that if we play our way well, then we will win no matter the opposition - this may work enough at home to keep things ticking over, but away from home even the best teams need to adapt from time to time

I did do one after the game and the poor thing took a bit of a battering

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't want Son central. Just saying you can't play through balls to slow strikers

Me too.. did ours straight after the whistle to calm me down lol
brick job
But someone has to do it
I wasn’t angry TBH
I was ambivalent because we did so little it kinda felt like it wasn’t happening
It was such a poor performance
Also ties Anges hands for city now as he has to go big for that

I said I thought we were set up incorrectly which you go on to say was the case in your post?

Fair play. Thought you were lamenting Postecoglou. When pre-match most would have kept the same core side. Very easy in hindsight, now we know palace were in our faces and overloading the midfield, and that we didn't cope...to say we might have been better served with Bentancur over Maddison (for example).

Fatigue was also an issue. After playing on Thursday. The same side, fresh, might well have played around them. So many variables, I am certainly not putting the boot in on Ange after that one.

We did change the side a lot

I'm confused - I'm saying we were set up wrong, as you also were in your post - that is on the manager

This exactly.

I don't judge Ange on how well we play in his plan A system. I judge Ange on the tools he has at his disposal based on having the same tactical options as every other manager in this league, including all of the ones he chooses to blatantly ignore.

He is going to both confuse and polarise the fans as some games we look really good, but the opposite end of that spectrum is still prevalent in other games.

Vicario’s interview seems a bit of a red flag to me, and Ange looks devoid of any energy in his MOTD one - and pretty snippy too.

4 losses in 9 league games so far this season. A lot of people said they’d judge where we sat after 10 games…lose to Villa and it’ll be a 50% loss rate for the season at that stage.

It already feels like the next two games are huge in the context of the season.

Why are you confused? The difference is, I’m not down on the manager and saying he’s set us up incorrectly. In hindsight it’s a different story. I’m sure Postecoglou would have done something differently if he could re-run the game.

For that matter, what setup and approach were you espousing pre-game? Or indeed for the next game?

Ange is always the same in interviews win or lose. When we win he's not exactly upbeat or excitable, he's pretty placid regardless of result - and he's always 'snippy' :D....

Win against Villa though and it’s a 50% win rate. And I can see us winning, at home
Key for me is actually Wednesday and how serous we take it before Villa

It's not really about being down on the manager or what anyone else would have done differently, at least imv of the context of the discussion, which was why we lost. Some thought the players weren't trying hard enough, I said I thought that they were/that wasn't the main problem, but that we had been set up incorrectly/were not prepared for how to deal with Palace's game plan (of course this is with hindsight btw, it's my view post game of how it played out?) - you yourself said you felt we were set up incorrectly - remind whose job it is to set the team up?
