OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Richmond/Crystal Palace - Sunday 27th October 14:00 ***

Son wouldn’t get the scraps because eh would be so far behind the play again
TBF we wouldn’t get the scraps because he wouldn’t engage the CBs
Son plays the role differently and does score. Even if you dislike the way he plays the position he scores, more than Richy and so far more than Solanke too.

Solanke IS better for the role overall, but he's not potent and capable of creating from nothing and we are creating nothing for him. Son is better able to score from nothing, as you know he is statistically the best finisher in the PL.

He hasn’t scored more than Solanke playing as a CF has he?
Don’t think son has scored a goal playing CF out of nothing for a long long time

He's scored more than Solanke this season and 2 of them came whilst playing CF. Goal rates wise they aren't comparable and I like Solanke. I'm not dismissing him, I'm just concerned we create 0 for him. As I said create 0 for Son and he might still get a goal if playing what is now his preferred and best position; striker.

I said it before but I am not seeing any improvement since halfway through last season. Anytime we play anyone who get well organised and up for a fight we seem to have no answer. Same old mistakes in defence. You would think by now players would know when to hoof it out or try and play out from the back. I`m afraid that with the players we have if Ange does not get flexible with his tactics I doubt he will be in charge this time next season. We have only played 9 games and not even won half of them and it`s been like it since the first 10 games last season. I really hope he goes all out for the Europa league because on what I`ve seen so far this year we have zero chance of getting top 4 or 5. Of course I hope I am wrong but Ange needs to change or I think his time will soon be up.

yep his 2 vs Everton. The way he chased down Pickford was brilliant.
But the inky way son is scoring is a worldie from outside the box or similar
That’s not a system or sustainable
It’s why we are playing a smarter way that means you don’t rely on an individual moment

He won’t change
The players Either do what they are asked or be gets sacked and we rinse and repeat

Completely unacceptable. Every time I think we are on our way we play so poorly. And today was a classic AVB style loss where we were hopelessly ineffective and seemed clueless as to how create anything. How did we go from a free scoring team to this?!
well the club has got to jinxed hasn't it?????
What other reason could there be for being SPURZY for so many years!
We have had the best Managers money can ...probably some of the best around albeit they could not find a solution
to the dilemma of this club.
My take on it is that the passion for the club is missing, why I am not so sure but I do have my own thoughts as to why the club lacks passion but they would not go down very well on this forum.
I think to myself one day we will turn it around but I cannot see it happening and its so disappointing. This is simply not the club it used to be!
Instead of pushing on when we win good games and get ourselves in a good position... we then end up bottling it as we all know time and time again.
I apologize for this rant..once again on here! As fans.. ..we all deserve better for our loyal support.

Not going to go to town on him, but I don't see the player others do in Solanke. I'm worried as hell about him

I don't see him with a reap natural instinct for the role or an x factor. He works hard absolutely and is a presser, presses to death, but I don't see a player who will grab a game or do something with abit of xfactor. Like I say I'm not slaughtering him, just don't see the next level in there
I don’t think any CF does what you mean
The age of strikers being that kind of players is dead especially now with lone strikers
He works harder than anyone which is key (imagine him in a team that actually mirrors his pressing) and he can finish when he gets chances
I think he is a great fit until Lankshear steps up
My worry is the drop off form him to Richy (great if it’s a one touch finish) and son ( can’t keep the ball and doesn’t stay in the right space) is massive

Indeed mate.
For me, Ange has made two big mistakes.
1) This was a match to start Pape. We knew what Palace would bring, and that midfield is not the right one for such a scrap.
2) Resist the clamour to start Mikey. I fully expected Werner to start and Mikey to appear as a sub. I was really surprised to see Ange do that...
On the second point I think Ange is in a bit of a damned if you do position.

From the way Werner has been finishing in particular it seems almost cruel starting him, but then you've got a 17 year old without a goal or assist to his name in senior football coming in. Whilst he obviously hasn't had a lot of chances and it's very early days, it's not an immediate upgrade in end product. It doesn't need to be said but it's different looking good with some mazy runs in Europa league compared to a tough away day in the premier league.

Agreed on the first point but it's easy to say in hindsight, and you very well may have thought it and / said it in foresight. I couldn't watch the game today so I'm only going on what I've read...

Possible
But asking players to work hard is a minimum in any team regardless of the system
They don’t seem to be able to manage it in away games for some reason.

I don't think players 'didn't work hard' I think they were set up incorrectly/ill prepared for the game - we couldn't deal with Palaces press from the first minute.

We really do seem to struggle against any well organised team, that's more tactical than anything else

Possibly
But I’ve seen us play many many away games against inferior opponents and bottle it because we did what we did today
Not fight
Nor press
Not run
That’s what I saw
For me it was lazy because as soon as it got physical we crumbled
