** OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool ** 8.1.25 at 8pm

I don't necessarily agree (other than getting a result we deserved for once ;))...our FBs have been more conservative for some time. Tonight he certainly man-marked in midfield a bit more/made sure the pockets weren't as playable or open, but in fairness we have done that a few times during this injury crisis, we just have not had the luck. I think the main thing with Kinsky is that he essentially allows us to have an extra 'outfield' player in the sense of he doesn't stay back, is really good with his feet, and allows the likes of the Cbs and Biss to play with a little more security. I don't want to go too early here, but there is a calm confidence about him which I think puts him on par with Vic and absolutely in cotention with him for the shirt.
I was in the lower part of the upper east stand. We had a great view of our defensive line. It was bloody good
Almost as if the week break gave them time to work on it
Yep it wasn’t perfect vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine but it was also a team that was ill… and maybe some still aren’t, but that didn’t show yesterday

Getting 20 steps ahead of myself but if we do get to the final, anyone have any experience of how likely season ticket holders are to get a ticket for the final? Looks like the clubs get ~30k tickets each but we have around ~45k-50k ST holders.

Always been done on loyalty points
Best to have a look at the skaters table on who has how many
@Glenda's Legs is the lady who knows where that is found I think (sure she posted it before)
Will be the same for the Europa final
We booked a hotel for that 3 months ago and are now just trying to get the points up

Cheers. Just found it for anyone who is looking:

Oh no Deano that's blown it now. Hard to believe you've been supporting Spurs since the 80s with that level of optimism.

Had we won 5-0 last night, I still wouldn't be confident going to Anfield. All I wanted was to be still in the tie which we are.

So I'm expecting to be battered second leg but still have that little chink of hope that I know will kill me - think that's known in medical circles as the "Spurs Paradox".

I do apologise for my stupidity in asking the above. May the football gods have mercy on me.

Despite my awareness of the way they work, the huge slant on reporting the match and the media output is grating somewhat with me.
18 year-old scores his first goal for Spurs late in a cup-tie to beat the league leaders while part of a patchwork side.
So much positivity marginalised or ignored to beat the Scouse victimhood drum.
One of the few bright spots was listening to Steve Nicol fuming as he refused to give Spurs credit for winning the game.

Bentancur just posted a smiling thumbs up pic as well. Seems to be doing well
Yeah
With his wife
Where we were driving back last night there was an instagram photo come up of him and his daughter and I was like… no
Turned out it was form the wolves game
But I was just thinking imagine her watching that from the side

A team undefeated for 24 games too
And only 2nd side to keep a clean sheet against them

I don't see how 100m starts are at all the same thing. In sprinting, there's a clear line and a clear start time - if you allow too much leeway, that's a problem with your start position or reaction time.

With football offsides, there's just too much uncertainty to apply a hairline system. The one thing that I think is really needed is error bars (or thicker lines) to reflect the inaccuracy in knowing exactly when foot kicked ball and the time gap between frames. If the lines overlap, it's benefit of the doubt.

My thought on this is do your best to capture the moment the ball is kicked. Then draw your two lines, and if it is less than 50cm then don't bother. It's level, and that is what the laws of the game say is onside. It may not be 50cm, and people smarter than me can come up with that exact number that represents a body width. However, not accounting for level is a heinous crime in my book and we have the technology to allow level now.

The margin of error when they brought VAR in was 15 cm
That’s the frame rate probe based on a high speed human movement
The issue they have is, as you say, no room for advantage of the attacker
To me if the lines touch they are level. The tech can tell them that

I think we're reading from the same hymnsheet. However it's done, there's error in the system and it needs to be accounted for, with benefit of the doubt going to the attacker.

I do think 50cm is a little high though -- that's an Andy Reid level of, well, "level"! @Bedfordspurs says 15cm, which seems to me about equivalent to what a well-positioned linesman (who's been to Specsavers recently) could deduce at game speed.

But it's never going to happen because the average fan (and I'm talking about the ones who dial into Talksport here rather than the erudite denizens of this forum) believes in absolutes, never mind the macarons in the TV studios.

I get it, but that is still not what level is in the true spirit of the game. I would like them to go even further than the margin of error to represent level better.

lol - 50cm is BFS's margin for error (15cm) plus your body width (35cm)

Fair enough if the media go and ask the question on Bergvall and the "second yellow". That's their job. But their job is also to challenge the likes of VVD and Slot and I don't recall one of them asking about the Diaz dive that should have meant Bergvall wasn't on a yellow at that point.
