***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Expensive Stoke***

Arsenal were brick also. I watched the game with my Arsenal supporting neighbour and we both thought it was a game severely lacking in any quality. Same as the first derby tbh but again Arsenal found a way to win or maybe we found a way to lose.
It was a poor game
We got a deflected goal with out first shot
They got an OG
And the winner was a relatively tame shot that bounced over a diving keeper
Neither keeper had to make many saves of any note
We’re far from fixed and they ain’t winning a thing this season

Against Liverpool, we went 1-0 up and blocked things off and looked bloody good for the win.

Against Arse, we went 1-0 up and went insane with gaps all over the place, somehow managing to look overpowered in every department, why did that happen, what was the difference?

When Spurs are playing well, everyone is flowing into position, we make 10 yard passes along the deck and it is an easy finish as we sweep it home... when Spurs are playing badly we can't even turn, we get robbed, we flop to the floor and suddenly it is 4 vs 2 and we're screwed, over and over and over.

Make it make sense.

For me what was painful is that our tactics are so poor (close to non-existent), particularly in the final third.
We're pretty good at getting runners into channels, but so many hit and hope balls into the box.

I was a supporter of Ange, but there's just no improvement or progress. Injuries elsewhere shouldn't mean Son, Solanke and Johnson have absolutely no link up play or positional awareness (Solanke gets a semi-pass as at least he runs himself into the ground every game).
Probably a good game to judge the team/
manager on. Defneded well with 3 missing. Pinched a goal against the run of play. Conceded from a corner that was a goal kick. Conceded again that would be saved 99% of the time. Defo Ange’s fault!

All true. But the problem is the PL is ruthless to inconsistent players. You don't need many to have an off day and it's 3 points down the drain.

The successful Man U teams were an example of this; Nicky Butt, Philip Neville, John O'Shea...even Gary Neville to some extent. Could all have been replaced by players better on their day, but gave 100% every match and the manager knew what to expect.

Maddison & Bissouma's inconsistency is a huge problem for us. Not sure what the solution is other than drop them when we have a fit squad and see if they can improve. Shame for them both as they have the talent.

It's probably fair to say that Bentancur missing 7 games through suspension and a couple more through the latest concussion has taken its toll on Bissouma. We also saw him play an epic 120 mins only on Sunday. He's 28 now and can perhaps be forgiven for running on empty tonight. It's always going to impact your general play and especially your decision making.

It's a real shame we couldn't keep Sarr, Biss and Bents in rotation mode and keep them all fresh. Sarr is also up and down like a yo-yo with his form. The difference is that he's forgiven because he's 22, whereas Biss is 28 even though it's way easier for the younger guy to recover.

As you say though, it is a problem that needs resolving. Whether it is more bodies or different bodies, we need to fix that midfield and find consistency.

Home game and and a fresher team
We also played a side who had a days less rest than us in that game

Arsenal's press was fantastic. Our players seemed to really not know how to find a way out of it. And when we did make it through the first line, Rice, Saliba and Gabriel made sure we didn't do anything more.

I thought Arsenal looked extremely weak going forward, but off the ball they're the best team in the league based on what I saw today.

Everyone complaining about the injuries tonight. For our first team we were really only short of our two centre backs. Are they important players to miss? Of course. But I’m sure the same could be said about Saka for them.

The rest of that team is close to as good as it gets right now. Spence is probably level with Udogie and has maybe performed better than him this season.

The biggest problem is we have no quality out wide most of the time. We need a top quality winger but who can we get?

No VdV, no Romero, no Bentancur, no Udogie, no Vicario...that's five who you could absolutely say would've started.

Dragusin is a huge drop off from Romero on the ball, especially against a team with such a well-organised press.

Really cannot wait to see him and VDV or even Davies back, which would also allow Gray to move into midfield where the only player on form at the moment is Bergvall.

The repercussions of that decision to rush back our first choice CBs (after only one day’s training in Romero’s case) for the €havski match continue to haunt us.

If at least one of them was still fit then Gray could’ve played at LB for the Wolves match in which Udogie was injured (when Spence was suspended) plus Archie could’ve given Porro a much needed breather at Tamworth too.

Hard to disagree with that. I did hear some pundit or other say that the last players a manager loses will be the younger ones because they just want to play. Our experienced players were dreadful tonight and I can’t imagine Maddison enjoys the bench, Bissouma likes being hooked at half time or Son likes being subbed. Ange could be walking on very thin ice right now with the squad.

Leadership is a huge issue and question.
I have to say I love a full-blooded 'skipper', however I am not sure whether we buy a leader or continue to develop them. Gray and Bergvall are leaders. Pedro can be one. Maddison isn't IMO...

Or maybe Spence wouldn’t have got sent off
We don’t know why they were risked but it’s happened and it’s bitten us

Honestly it’s pointless with these people. They think you can miss 5 players and go away to the 2nd best team in the league and get something.

Would be no surprise if it’s the same people that moan about Ange adjusting and when we eventually get it right (bar a referee error and keeper error) it’s obviously his fault.

yeah, could have seen a lot more of Spence, Reggie and Lankshear this season
Reggie shouldn’t even be here
He should be playing in Spain
Mad that we have got that thin we have to play him
Lankshear has IMO been massively under used even for just gambling on a win late on
Spence is our best fullback … not currently, I mean full stop

We win there all the time too

The injuries are only half of the story though. The other half is that the leftover players are knackered because they've got no rest over the last 6 weeks.
