Not only was our football outstanding but so was our game management. Time wasting etc. Don't think we are always the best at doing things like that.

I think Pep is staying because he doesn't want to leave them in that 'need to start a new cycle' situation. He looks done for, a lot of their mainstays are ageing now - De Bruyne, Walker, Gundagon while Silva, Stones and Kovacevic have just turned 30 and they don't really have a huge amount of depth now.
The only kneejerk reaction here is to my postIn the grand scheme of things is exactly the phrase that best sums up what Ange is doing, and to not recognise that this is still the mid point of the evolution of our team is to be naive. If you actually listen to the manager, the guy who is orchestrating the performances, he is telling you what they are striving for, namely consistency - but that is not guaranteed as they work towards the end goal, which for Ange is trophies.
Too many people who follow football teams kneejerk, but in your case this inverted knee jerk of instantly devaluing the result by saying the next one defines it is patently not true. This should be treated as what it is, a wonderful performance for so many reasons against the best club side in the world the past five years.
It would be insane for ManC to sack Pep just for losing a few games, they have an againg team, with injures to that core.I think Pep is staying because he doesn't want to leave them in that 'need to start a new cycle' situation.
From our pov it could be good timing if they aren't the force they were as we mature to the peak of our cycle.

ManC will crumble if he goes, a bit like Fergie leaving at ManU, the just haven't been the same since, regardless of how much they have spent.
Pep ain't going anywhere, and ManC would be stupid to remove him.
It's just a blip, that they will learn from.
It's not jounalism...The media just love feasting on stuff like this, creating one narrative after another. Football journalism is mostly utter utter dross, and they live on sensationalising every little fudging thing. "Talking points" - 63828 opinions on what a team or manager is doing wrong one day, then a couple of weeks later it's all forgotten and the guy is a genius and they all look like the meant that all along.
As much as I would like to see City get relegated, it's not gonna happen. A month from now and no one is talking about it anymore.

These so called "journalists" can only exist because of the internet, their views are aimed at getting people to to click on sites and generate money through advertising. When Shoot magazine had a circulation of about 100,000 a week they got about 300 letters a week, now free to read internet reaches millions and they help to make cash for site when they are read, that's why it's called click bait.
Yes, I don't understand who bothers tbh - I usually get their opinions through places like this or Twitter. Don't understand who actively seek it out.
I worked two years as a football journalist many years ago. Loved writing about matches that I was covering - just watching a match writing down what happened and how it happened. But my boss always wanted the "dramatic angle" - they would often just edit my headlines to some flimflam dramatic drivel - and whenever I had interviewed a coach I always knew which quote they would take and blow out of proportions into some dramatic headline. I just couldn't do it anymore at some point - my dream job as a kid - quit it after two years as it was fudging dumb and meaningless.
Shoure?
They've this week given him a new 2 year contract....so indeed none of that is likely to happenIt would be insane for ManC to sack Pep just for losing a few games, they have an againg team, with injures to that core.

I agree, but if you read some of the hyperbole then you'll see people talking as if those chances of theirs never happened or that because Romero didn't play that's the key to better defending of crosses, when in this very match we had the crosses issue in the first half. That's all im really responding too. It was a absolutely fantastic performance but let's not get too carried away.
That's the issue with the starting point of the internet being 'free'. The model they chose (less friction) is free to user and the advertiser will be the one that pays them. So we become the product to give to the advertiser. These so called "journalists" can only exist because of the internet, their views are aimed at getting people to to click on sites and generate money through advertising. I don't think VdV is the issue though. I have rarely seen him put a foot wrong, I think the issue is that he lumped with Romero, who switches off far to often.I think if we had vdv and Rom I don't think we keep a clean sheet
Yeah, heard that too... Even stated he would stay with the club if they got relegated due the charges against them. They've this week given him a new 2 year contract....so indeed none of that is likely to happen
Yeh I think Drags did good. But believe Davies had lot to do with that too.I don't think VdV is the issue though. I have rarely seen him put a foot wrong, I think the issue is that he lumped with Romero, who switches off far to often.
I would love to see a Drag's and VdV partnership for a few games. I think they would complement each other very well.
I take it that Drag's had a good game yesterday?
Agreed. Vic went down and physio came in. Udogie, when he picked up his knock, rolled back onto the pitch. Getting smart. Not only was our football outstanding but so was our game management. Time wasting etc. Don't think we are always the best at doing things like that.
Team reason and us accepting dropping deeper at times when we didn't have the energy to press high.
Also confidence and game state. What was that stat, conceding first in 13 of our last 15 home games or something like that.
And of course they didn't take their chances, we did.
Quite similar to the game against City in the cup. Had we been rushed/flustered, over extended in terms of pressing up that's a very different performance.
