Because the plan is not a good one

That doesn't cut it for me, he's not alone in it but he should be able to do better than this.
There's a few of them who are never in the same place twice, that's not the plan, just like the plan isn't to be passing it back.

I am not defending ange, but there are players out there hiding behind the manager, senior players, and Maddison is one of them.

I think the players always get off lightly in these situations and I don’t mind as much if they have credit in the bank and still put a shift in but we aren’t seeing much of that either

Lots of panic and meltdown but to come away from a really poor performance only 1-0 down is decent. They’ve been very good at home and on a good run. But we’re more than capable of turning it around.

For all the talk of Spurs being too attacking/open/naive, the thing that's killed us against Liverpool, Villa and now in this game is being too passive. Ange turned things down a notch to deal with the injuries, now we've gotta turn it back on sharpish. We're at our best when there's energy to our game; high press, quick passing. Ange isn't a pragmatic manager and we shouldn't be a pragmatic team. I'd rather lose 5-4 than sit through a brick 1-0 like that.

Remember the 2011 Champions away win against Milan under Redknapp. Crouch scored. Sandro was amazing
Since then Spurs have won 3 away legs in the European knock-out rounds
Dortmund and Ajax during the Champions League final run
Wolfsberger AC from Austria during Covid in an empty stadium

Tel has no history playing as a CF to say which way he thrives and sonny has had little success playing CF in a possession side without a striker there (think Llorente or even Moura as well as Kane)
And the team can’t just become a long ball counter attacking side one game and possession side the next
agree with you, but we had lanks and loaned Scarlett. Scarlett back and he still didn't use him til late.
I just don't understand what he is thinking and I'm sick of it.

Roll on June. Cos honestly if he is still here come June. I'm done watching til he is gone. At this point I might not even bother on Sunday.

These performances become the norm. First half is always like we are new to football.

I think the effort was also lacking somewhat tonight, compared to other games. But you would expect after almost 2 seasons we would look more cohesive and fluid than we did. That is the baffling part. Of course the same thing happened under Conte, where we played our best football in his first season. But with Conte the explanation was simple: he was way too rigid and he lost the dressing room. With Ange I do not know. I doubt he is clueless, as some people say, so maybe it is his rigidity too.

As another poster said, we should have gone into this game looking to be solid defensively and disrupt the way AZ plays. That should have been objective number 1, 2, 3, and 4. Playing "our football" should have been #10 on the list.

Anyway, here's to hoping we snap out of this funk soon.
We won't snap out of the funk. Cos like you said he won't change.

In all likelihood we may scrape through next week, but would any of us be confident in us overseeing frankfurt or Ajax under this clown?

It’s soul destroying the inertia around the club. There is no argument in my opinion to keeping him at the club once our europa league journey ends, in fact I think our chances would improve if we sacked him between now and next Thursday ( which won’t happen ).

Can't say I am personally panicking, I just thought it was an awful performance and was really disappointed that Ange could not seem to prepare them for even a 45 minute performance.

You can spin it however you want, but that team won't win fudge all.

Couple of different points as pointless going over the collective performance, we all know what it was:

From what I've seen of Spence at RB I prefer him at LB, and Porro RB. Udogie has been poor for a long time now, he doesn't deserve to be in our strongest XI and for all the question marks about Porro defensively (which I think can be over exaggerated at times) we miss a lot from the quality he brings going forward.

Odobert was poor one on one in this game, but what I liked is that after the first couple of times of not beating his man he continued to be direct and kept trying. Sure, it wasn't his night - it happens. But I was happy that he didn't go back in his shell and just start checking back and passing it backwards like many wingers do, he had the confidence to keep trying....

I think Odobert will come good, wingers tend to be inconsistent game by game, I've liked what I've seen so far and agree his first though is to take on his man, which is what we need

Off the back of yesterday I fully agree with your about Spence and porro
I do think destiny is suffering the tailwind of his injury last year and the ones he has picked up this season
Odebert so far seems to play with a lack of knowledge of what to do… that should have been addressed in his recovery imo
But it wasn’t individuals yesterday, it was a collective “meh”
It was lazy with effort of that makes sense. Almost like showing up but doing nothing
