I think that's very unfair. It is not 'delusional' to stay back from judging a side/squad/manager who is without 10 first-team players for a stretch of time. In fact, I think it is appropriate and on-point to wait and see what happens when some of those players start coming back. Which is what we're seeing now. What would ACTUALLY be delusional would be to make excuses for performances such as tonight and the manager's central role in them. It was brick, and he brick the bed in terms of prep. This one is on him for sure.

It’s not just on him for me
Again… we saw a team with no “leaders” stepping up
Not one senior player did anything other than our keeper. That for me was cowardice form them
We have players hiding in plain sight
But then that should be address by ange and he has never done that here

Weird from Bergvall today as well. He's seen as a bit of a technician, but the own goal was just bad technique and one first touch took him about 10 metres in the wrong direction later on. Most had a mare today so perhaps it's unfair to single him out, the goal was unfortunate but wouldn't have happened if anyone had actually challenged for a corner.

Plus the shot of Son and Maddison muttering on the bench after their display, they're the ones to move on. Let's buy some more kids to replace them so we can kick off at anyone hoping for us to be decent for at least three seasons. Call it a slow grow transitional period and tut at anyone who expects better.

Fair points...I agree, the seniors have again hidden. The kid who scored the own goal? Never hid once (I know we're in agreement).
 
Didn’t see the game as I’m out of the country and was travelling. Woke to check the score and thought “ah fudge that but at least we’re still in the tie.”

Reading the posts on here, sounds like it was pretty horrendous?

It was
The passing was poor apart from Vic
We had players in the right places but the passes to them were weak and short
Spence on the right had a poor game (changed on the left)
The defence wasn’t even over run but they always had room
And out attack was as blunt as Donald trump
Real lack of fight and desire
 
Rangers had a brilliant result at Fenerbahce. Bodo/Glimt are leading 3-0. Wtf is wrong with us, this competition is eminently winnable.
I’d be tempted to sack him tomorrow, get past next week with a “new manager bounce” and take it from there. Had enough of him now.

After 60 consecutive games of Kulusevski carrying our team you’d hope Maddison might’ve stepped up tonight to demonstrate why he’s part of our leadership group but the only things he’ll be remembered for tonight is that shambolic free-kick!

To add insult to injury, these 2 are purported to be our highest wage earners and so this effort cost us about £360,000!

We won’t sack him, but it’s our only realistic chance of winning what is a very winnable competition. Benitez would come if we asked him. He’d get us to the final at least, I reckon.
