*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

The bottom line is you need a depth of good players.

Maresca. 25 first teamers, and he’s made an impact.
Slot - Ripe team with world class players.

Compare to Ange and Amorin - They simply won’t get the same output from the squads they have.

Even if the players and depth is as bad as made out (which I would argue quite strongly against) a good manager should still be able to stamp his presence/tactics on them, you see it all the way down the league - it's not an excuse for what we're seeing imv

He has definitely lost the away fans now. I was stood very close to where he came over st the end and it was an odd moment. I couldn’t quite hear him but he certainly didn’t seem to be saying ‘sorry’. Judging by the dire performances all over the pitch he has lost the players too.

I dont think he has any clue what he’s doing. I know people keep saying that there are no obvious replacements but I don’t even think that’s a problem any more: I doubt there’s a PE teacher in the country that couldn’t prove to be a better defensive coach than him.

Yet another false dawn at Spurs. And probably another long night too.
Fair play for going.

I do get the sense with Ange sometimes that he’s too smart for his own good. He gets asked a straightforward softball question and he goes and gives a different answer to the one that was obvious.

He is very insightful and very big picture but sometimes it’s a bit of a pain in the hole.

Not acknowledging any responsibility or apologising for the situation when approaching the fans doesn’t surprise me but it’s not a good thing.

Ouch! fudging hell, that's a tough watch. I mean, I'm not overly positive about our situation, but come on, treat the man with respect face to face, ffs.

He said early on that the supporters will be the ones who judge whether he's doing a good job or not - well there's a wake up call for him

There was a saying at the "old" forum that bottling/losing is in the walls at White Hart Lane. I'm not into that, but there has to be a common denominator somewhere. With a precious few exceptions, we buy great players and turn them into good players, and we buy good players and turn them into brick player. Is it the coaching? Is it the setup? Is it the overall "feel" inside the club? As I have mentioned earlier, I saw an interview with Steffen Iversen where he spoke about the club being "cold". Not to compare, and least of all at this time, but Solskjær spoke about something very different at Man Utd. Unless they've literally gotten the boot from Fergie, most players don't seem to get enough of that club. Of course winning plays a part in it, but winning is a team effort. Which is why I have no respect for "the best striker in the world going to the best club in the world". But that's just me.

But mostly Spurs seems like a club where you can earn a buck, kick back in the heart of London, maybe get yourself in the shop window and play with little to moderate effort without consequences. If you win it's fine. If you lose that's fine too.
Like I said before.

We are too nice... If you don;t perform you are out the door. Levy likes to keep players for 6 years, then lets them go on a free,

He is massive problem at the club, and we are not ruthless enough with players...

We’re in the death throes now, I fear. Lose with a performance like this on Sunday and it’s going to be nasty.

Potter in place by the New Year? Relatively cheap, available, slightly desperate and unlikely to give Daniel a hard time.
Round and round and round we go….

Remember when some of the wallies on here wanted Pochettino out?…. That’s gone really well for us since hasn’t it?

Maybe having a manager really have it his way, for more than 18 months, would help. Posh wasn't an instant success. Klopp wasn't an instant success. Arteta definitely wasn't an instant success. But having someone implement and ingrain a philosophy for several years, usually has some impact. That, is actually the only thing we haven't tried post Posh.
And in addition to this, our team consists mostly of young, inexperienced players. We don't have many really established Premier league players. Our only real star, is on the decline, so is Davies and Forster. Kulu, Madders, Bissouma, Romero and Solanke are the others that I class as established premier league players. Porro maybe, and Richarlison, but he's never fit. The rest are teens and early 20s. They need time and continuity! We're not done with rebuilding the squad.

Blame Levy for the way he has run the club for 20 years.

It's going to take years to sort this mess out. I would back Ange if he showed a little nuance with squad management... Like not leaving Djed and Reg, out of the EUFA list, in order to keep Udogie and Porro at their best...

Not leaving it till the 3 mins left and expecting Lankshear to perform miricles...

Ange is part of the problem at this point. We want to win the league or seriously threaten top 4 and you can argue Levy isn’t doing enough.

But fact is we are 10th. We’ve been getting that level of results for over a year now. That’s as bad as we’ve been for 2 decades pretty much. We are underachieving even with the squad we have. That’s on Ange I’m afraid.

He deserves time but the pressure is on and rightly so.
I'd rather say that we would like to win the league, but we don't WANT to. And for that I'm quite happy, I'm more disappointed that we didn't get the missing pieces back when we COULD win the league. This might be the old fart in me speaking, but I honestly don't think top level footballers are as good as they seem (or being lauded), or rather that the level below has caught up. There are no "certain buys" like in the golden CM era, everyone is a gamble, and everyone can turn out bad after looking good. So what's there for Levy to do that he already hasn't? We can talk about Eze and Vini, but we all know what they would've looked like after 6 months of Spursification.

And while I agree that today was as bad as it gets, there were similarly bad efforts under both Poch (at the end), Conte, Jose and Nuno. The only difference being that today it looked like we fielded a team of individuals that's just started playing football. I don't know the details, but to me it looks more like a coaching problem than a managerial problem - even if it's the manager's responsibility at the end of the day.

I’m still (just about) for giving him the season, but we are 18 months in and the general trajectory has been stagnant at best for the guts of a year. Ange looks lost on the touchline; the players look lost on the pitch; and it’s bloody awful to watch. Hard to see it ending well now.

For me, the problems have always been higher up than whoever happens to be manager.

Wow. What a mess. We were absolutely toothless. For all his pressing, Solanke isn't exactly going to terrifying any defenders.

Kulu is knackered. Watching him that last half-hour was painful. Sonny's as bad as I've ever seen him. Johnson did naff all on the left.

I could go on, from front to back and everything in the middle. But for this one, I've got to question the manager. There just wasn't any semblance of a system in attack, and for me, that's where we lost the game.

Many of Bournemouth's chances came at the end, when we were pushing forward and with an unfamiliar CB pairing. Before Davies went off, we weren't all that bad defensively. Not great, mind, but not awful. But it's up front that we gave nothing.
