Completed Dark Souls today. Good grief what an utterly brilliant, brilliant game.

Don't get me wrong it's frustrating as heck, and so difficult. But the sense of achievement is massive.

If you're an avid gamer and haven't yet, play this game.

1 or 2? I just got the first Dark Souls (Prepare to Die edition), looking forwarding to playing it tonight. :)

Ah, goddamnit! I suck at this game. Barely gotten anywhere, and die all the time. Dying isn't all that annoying, but not having any checkpoints for miles, and the loading time every time you die is a ****ing killer. I'm probably not going to finish this game. :p

You really have to study the attacks of the enemies and time your attacks on them. Keep the shield up, parry etc.

Yeah, you're right. I will play it more, of course, but it's not something I can handle too much at a time, I think, too easily frustrated for that. :-#

Oh my controller has gone flying across the room many, many times before!

Upon completion I'd racked up 90 or so hours playing time. I love the game so much I started it again straight away.

Damn, playing it again? It must be good then. I actually got a few other games a couple of days ago, three for two deal, and they were really cheap. Mafia II, Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 2, started playing Mafia II, I was expecting more for a mafia title, but it's still a decent game.

Doesn't quite live up to big brother, but agree still worth playing.

Ah, ok, never played it. :)
First one was great, played through it several times and I'm normally glad to finish a game and bung it on the shelf. Would imagine it looks very dated now. Second one was a bit Jack Howitzer/kill em all, didn't really capture the mood quite like the first. I've not played that again.

I tried playing Mafia 2 several times, just couldn't get into it.

It's a bit dull. Not a very strong story so far, and coming from the good Mafia movies/series (Godfather, Goodfellas, Once Upon A Time in America, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire etc), the whole "mood" or atmosphere is not really there. That's the disappointing part of the game. But the graphics are very good, the missions in the game are pretty enjoyable, and the game mechanics are good. So it feels a bit like a 1940's/1950's GTA, with a more linear story.

If you're after a little 'help' on Dark Souls, check this out. You firstly need 20,000 souls to purchase the Seal of Artorius from the blacksmith in Undead Parish.
